3D Energy Drinks has unveiled its 9th new flavour since relaunch – but not in the way founder Christian Guzman had hoped.
Raspberry Sorbet joined the line-up as a limited-edition variety, launching exclusively at The Vitamin Shoppe.
However, an online listing let the cat out of the bag over a month before its scheduled release date.
“We were supposed to launch our 9th flavour early July,” Guzman admitted to fans on YouTube. “But somehow, it got leaked.
“The other day, I opened up Instagram and this 9th flavour was all over my feed. It was already available at The Vitamin Shoppe for $19.99 a case – literally more than a month early.”
Guzman said he had to throw all of his marketing plans “out the window”, including product teasers and a pre-booked high-production shoot.
“That sucks, because my role in 3D is the marketing,” he added.
With Raspberry Sorbet only scheduled for a limited run, Guzman consulted his team and decided to roll with it.
“I didn’t see the point in waiting and pretending it wasn’t already available online,” he explained.
“People are going to start getting the flavour, making reviews online, and I didn’t want to just ignore it.
“So therefore, we’re totally skipping all of the hype, and this video is the announcement of the 9th flavour.”
Introducing Raspberry Sorbet
Despite its abrupt introduction, Raspberry Sorbet is now an official member of the 3D family.
It follows hot on the heels of Spicy Mango – now the top-selling 3D variety in H-E-B – and Orange Cream, Sam Sulek’s first collaboration flavour since joining the brand at board level.
Like Spicy Mango, Guzman says this new addition brings something different to the core roster, fusing soft notes of raspberry with a smooth sorbet finish.
As for the formula, each 16 fl oz (473 ml) can delivers a solid caffeine kick, added B vitamins, and just 10 calories. Cases of 12 are available via The Vitamin Shoppe’s website for an incredibly competitive $19.99.
