It’s been a tough couple of years for gyms and now Elite Durham gym has shut down and gone into liquidation.
The gym that was most known for giving you free memberships if you lost 20lbs has now shut it’s doors forever. Elite Durham Gym was based in the Mandale industrial estate and saw dozens of transformations take shape over the years. A large warehouse full of functional fitness equipment that held classes 7 days per week.
The pandemic shut the doors of all gyms which left them needing government funding to keep the lights on. Once restrictions were lifted it was obvious to see that only the strongest would survive. Large gyms opened near Elite including Ultra Flex which took a giant chunk of the market share and other local units such as Unique, Bannatynes, Transform, Ramside and Result offered rock bottom prices, promotions and free gym passes for you to bring your friend to try it for free. Elite was likely going to be the first to go as they didn’t seem to do much in the way of marketing or promotions.
There was no notice giving to members and many even turned up to the facility to see a note on the door that read Elite Gym Durham was closed for good and going into liquidation leaving them unsure on if they will ever get their money back.
