It’s that time of the year again where we celebrate the best of British achievements in the sports world. Previous sports personality of the year awards have gone to:

The six BBC Sports Personality of the year 2021 contenders are Adam Peaty, Emma Raducanu, Tom Daley, Tyson Fury, Raheem Sterling and Sarah Storey.
This award isn’t just handed to the athlete with the most wins or trophies but to someone who has done lots for the sport they represent, charities and general awareness to causes that are close to their hearts.
More about the six BBC Sports Personality of the year 2021 contenders:
Adam Peaty who won Gold at the Tokyo Olympics in the 4x100m mixed medley swimming. Later in the year Adam Peaty also appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Emma Raducanu who was Britain’s first female tennis player to win the US Open since 1977 and then went onto win the Grand Slam without dropping a single set.
Tom Daley: England’s sweetheart swimmer who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in the 10 metre synchro diving event alongside partner Matty Lee.
Tyson Fury: Not only has Tyson had incredible success in the ring by defeating Deontay White twice but he has also been an ambassador for mental health awareness as well as providing us with honest interviews and of course top quality entertainment thanks to his larger than life personality.
Raheem Sterling: England’s very own centre forward who helped take England to the finals of the European Championship. He has celebrated 100 career premiership goals and helped Manchester City retain their Premier League title. Raheem has also been at the forefront of trying to rid football of racism.
Sarah Storey: The Paralympian who secured her 17th career Olympic Gold at the Tokyo Games with a victory in the C45 cycling road race.
