European Athletics Championships 2026
The European Athletics Championships 2026 are coming to Birmingham this summer, with Alexander Stadium hosting the event from Monday 10th August to Sunday 16th August.
It’ll be the first time the championships have ever been held in the UK, so it’s kind of a big deal!
More than 50 nations will be competing across the week, so this really is an event to look forward to.
The European Athletics Championships 2026
A lot of what makes this one exciting is how much there’ll be to watch. This is not a one day meet where you catch a few races and it’s over. It’s a full championship week, which means sprint events, distance races, field events, relays, and medal sessions spread across seven days.
That gives people plenty to get into, whether they follow athletics closely or just want to be there for the big moments.
It also helps that Alexander Stadium has already hosted a major event like the Commonwealth Games. So the setting already makes sense for a week like this, and with a British crowd in there as well, it should be a very good place to watch Europe’s best athletes compete.
Tickets are already on sale, with prices starting from £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s, which makes it a lot easier for people to actually get in and be part of it.
Get ready Birmingham
For Birmingham, this is a massive one. Hosting the European Athletics Championships 2026 puts the city right at the centre of one of the biggest athletics events of the summer, with Europe’s best all heading to Alexander Stadium for a full week of action.
A home crowd, a packed stadium, and seven days of championship athletics make this an event you won’t want to miss this summer.
