As the iconic TV show, The Gladiators is set to air, the lineup has been announced. Jodie Ounsley, a former England Women’s Rugby Sevens player and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu British Champion, is joining the contestants this season. She is Deaf in Both Ears
Jodie went viral when she announced that she was deaf in both ears. She is the first deaf person to play for the England Women’s Senior Rugby side. 2018, she was named the Young Deaf Sports Personality of the Year.
Her Dad was Once a Gladiator
Her dad, Phil, a former professional martial artist, was a contestant on the show in 2008. She credits the desire to be on the show to her dad.
She is the First Deaf Gladiator
The first to achieve many things, Jodie is the first ever deaf gladiator to be a part of the rebooted series.
Her Zodiac Sign is Capricorn
Born on January 17, 2001, making her a Capricorn, she embodies the true traits of being a Capricorn- a hard worker and an overachiever.

Outside of her illustrious career as a Rugby player, she is also involved in charity. She is the patron of the Elizabeth Foundation, a preschool for deaf children. She was also named the Honorary President of UK Deaf Sports.
