Power Slap Contestants Banned For Positive Drug Tests

Six Power Slap competition contestants have been hit with temporary suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission pending a full hearing after they tested positive for various performance-enhancing drugs.

The six contestants are TJ Thomas, Jay Rivera, Chris Thomas, Andrew Provost, Isaih Quinones, and Frank Holland, and they all competed in Power Slap events in March before testing positive for banned substances including anabolic steroids, weight-loss drugs, and a strong opioid-related narcotic.

Power Slap is building quite an impressive following with people tuning in to watch, but these recent instances of contestants using drugs is threatening to tarnish the integrity of the competition. It’s also raised questions about why on earth anyone would feel the need to take performance-enhancing drugs to compete in this sort of contest.

In fact, Nevada State Athletic Commission chairman Anthony Marnell is quoted as saying, “I haven’t seen this in quite a while. I didn’t know you needed to use steroids to slap, but I guess we’re going to find out”.

The contestants themselves haven’t commented on the situation yet, so we’ll have to keep waiting to find out why they choose to take the drugs before competing.
