Hunter Armstrong, a 6’6ft member of the USA Swim team, won his second Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Olympics Men 4x100m freestyle relay. In the same event, he set a new personal best record of 3:09.28.

Career Highlights

Hunter comes from a family of student-athletes in Ohio. Though he started as a footballer, he switched over to swimming in 2018 while he was a student at Dover High School. 

He had a memorable time as a student-athlete, bagging three gold medals for Ohio State University in the Tim Welsh Classic, five medals in the 2022 Big Ten Conference Championship and Big Ten Conference title for the year. He was awarded best male athlete by the school later that year.

In 2020, he qualified for the Olympics and his team came first in the 4x100m medley, earning him his first-ever Olympic medal.

He has accrued seventeen medals in both courses of the World Championships from 2022 till date. With an unbeaten time of 23.71 seconds, the twenty-three-year-old remains the two-year reigning world record holder in the 50m backstroke.

Life Outside Swimming

Hunter enjoys playing magic tricks in his spare time and even does them in swim meets. This has earned him the nickname, The Magician. He has moved to Columbus where he intends to train under Bowe, coach Ohio State swimmers and pursue a degree in sports.
