Three-time World’s Strongest Man Tom Stoltman was eliminated in the qualifying stage of the 2026 competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in an effort that he has since described as the “lowest of the low.”
Who is Tom Stoltman?
The Invergordon-born Scotsman, nicknamed “The Albatross,” is one of the most decorated strongmen of his generation, having won the World’s Strongest Man title in 2021, 2022, and 2024 – becoming the only Briton to have won the title three times.
What Happened to Tom Stoltman at the 2026 World’s Strongest Man?
The competition started poorly for 31-year-old Tom Stoltman, who injured his hand during the first qualifying event. However, even with a torn callous, he went on to complete the 25,000-kilogram truck pull in 37.59 seconds.

Despite a strong finish in the natural stone medley, it wasn’t enough for the Scot, with Mexican Austin Andrade and New Zealander Mathew Ragg advancing from his group instead. Stoltman missed out on a place in the final by a single point.
It is the first time since his 2017 debut that Stoltman has not made it through qualifying.
What Did Tom Stoltman Say?
Taking to social media, Stoltman admitted that he was “massively disappointed” with the mistakes he made and how he got into his own head, but added that he would “come back mentally stronger.”
