If you’ve spent any time watching powerlifting content online, there’s a good chance you’ve come across Sawyer Klatt.
He’s been documenting his training since he was a teenager, sharing everything from early physique updates to deadlifts that look almost impossible to get off the floor.
And people have been able to watch the numbers climb with him.
Sawyer went from deadlifting 385 pounds as a teenager to pulling 800 pounds at 19, setting a junior world record, joining the Gymshark athlete team, and eventually lifting 900 pounds in training.
So, how old is Sawyer Klatt, what weight class does he compete in, and how did he get so strong?
Here’s everything you need to know.
Who Is Sawyer Klatt?
Sawyer Klatt is an American powerlifter, fitness creator, and Gymshark athlete.
He was born on August 22, 2001, making him 24 years old. He competes in the 110kg class, which works out at around 242 pounds, although he weighed slightly less at 107.5kg for his biggest competition.
His social media content includes heavy training sessions, physique updates, Gymshark shoots, and the sort of lifts that make you wonder whether the weights have been labelled correctly.
And people clearly enjoy following his progress. Sawyer has built an Instagram following of around 148,000, while his YouTube channel has more than 54,000 subscribers and hundreds of videos covering his training, food, competitions, and life as a powerlifter.
His Powerlifting Journey
Sawyer started sharing his training progress while he was still a teenager.
Some of his earliest YouTube videos follow his transformation from the ages of 15 to 18, along with the huge progress he made on his deadlift during that time.
In less than two years, he took it from 385 pounds to 675 pounds.
And by the age of 19, he was already deadlifting 800 pounds, which is hard to get your head around when most people that age are still learning how long pasta takes to cook.
Then, in 2023, he produced the biggest competition lift of his career.

Sawyer Klatt’s World Record Deadlift
Sawyer competed at the WRPF Drug Tested American Pro 2 in October 2023.
He was 22 years old and lifting in the junior 110kg class, with his sights set on a new deadlift record.
His opening two attempts came in at 337.5kg and 362.5kg. Then, for his final lift, he loaded 385kg onto the bar.
That’s just under 849 pounds.
And he got it off the floor.
The lift gave Sawyer the junior world record for the deadlift in his weight class, beating the previous record by 20kg.
He also completed every one of his nine attempts across the competition, so it wasn’t a case of saving everything for one huge deadlift and hoping for the best.
Alongside the record, he squatted 325kg and benched 185kg, finishing with a total of 895kg.
In pounds, that works out at a 716.5 pound squat, a 407.8 pound bench, an 848.7 pound deadlift, and a total that came incredibly close to 2,000 pounds.
So while deadlifting is the thing Sawyer is best known for, he’s clearly not short of strength anywhere else.
Sawyer Klatt and Gymshark
Sawyer is also part of the Gymshark athlete team.
And it makes sense when you look at the way he’s built his following. People haven’t only seen the polished photos and successful lifts. He’s shared the training, the progress, the missed attempts, and the years of work behind the numbers.
Sawyer regularly wears Gymshark clothing across his social media and has appeared in content for the brand.
He’s also trained with other familiar names from the Gymshark world, including David Laid, which helped introduce him to an even bigger fitness audience during his earlier lifting years.
Can Sawyer Klatt Deadlift 900 Pounds?
Yes, Sawyer has shared footage of himself deadlifting 900 pounds in training.
That takes him beyond his official competition best of 385kg, although there is an important difference between the two lifts.
A gym deadlift doesn’t come with competition judges, commands, and the same strict rules you face on the platform. So his 385kg world record lift remains his best official result.
Still, pulling 900 pounds anywhere is a ridiculous amount of weight.
And it shows just how much stronger Sawyer has become since setting that record in 2023.
Final Thoughts
Sawyer Klatt has been sharing his powerlifting journey since he was a teenager, which means fans have been able to watch him build his strength almost lift by lift.
He pulled 800 pounds at 19, set a junior world record at 22, and has since reached 900 pounds in training.
Now he’s a Gymshark athlete with a huge online following and one of the biggest deadlifts you’re likely to see on your feed.
And at just 24 years old, there could still be a lot more to come.
