We tried Vieve’s coconut protein bar to see if the taste is as good as the macros.
There are loads of different protein bars out there, but finding one that ticks all the boxes isn’t always that easy.
You want a decent amount of protein without loads of calories or sugar, and ideally something with enough fibre to actually leave you feeling satisfied.
The Vieve protein bars look pretty good on paper, with a good amount of protein, not much sugar, and a good dose of fibre.
So far, so good.
But none of that really matters if you open the wrapper and find another dry, chewy protein bar that feels like hard work to finish.
Which brings us to the big question. Do they actually taste good?
Being a fan of all things coconut, I tried the Coconut Craze coconut protein bar to find out.

Vieve Protein Bars
You might already know Vieve for its clear protein waters, but the brand also makes a collagen protein powder and protein bars.
Across the whole range, there’s a big focus on creating protein products that taste genuinely enjoyable, rather than something you put up with just to hit your macros.
The protein bars come in three flavours: Strawberry Blondie, Pistachio Punch, and Coconut Craze.
All three sound pretty fun, but Coconut Craze was always going to be the first one I reached for.
It combines pieces of real coconut with a smooth, creamy coating, giving you all those familiar coconut chocolate bar flavours with much more protein and far less sugar.
Each bar is also gluten free and made with soy and milk protein rather than collagen.
That means you’re getting complete sources of protein, with all nine essential amino acids included.
Vieve Coconut Protein Bar
The first thing I noticed when I opened the wrapper was that the Vieve coconut protein bar looked much more like a regular chocolate bar than a typical protein bar.
And honestly, that’s always a good start.
It has a creamy outer coating with a soft coconut centre and those little pieces of real coconut, and the whole thing looks seriously tempting.
And once I bit into it I was so happy to find that the texture is really nice too.
It isn’t too cakey, dense, or weirdly chewy, which are usually the things that put me off protein bars.
Instead, it has more of a proper chocolate bar texture, so it feels like you’re eating something you would have chosen anyway rather than forcing down a fitness snack.
Very chocolate bar coded, basically.

What Does It Taste Like?
The Vieve coconut protein bar is genuinely one of the nicest protein bars I’ve tried.
The easiest comparison is probably a Bounty, because you get that same mix of creamy chocolate and coconut.
What I love though is that the coconut flavour is definitely there, but it isn’t too in your face.
It comes through as more of an undertone, which means the bar shouldn’t be too much even if you’re not completely obsessed with coconut.
There’s enough sweetness to make it feel like a treat, but it doesn’t have that strange aftertaste you sometimes get with bars that are really low in sugar and full of sweeteners.
The Macros
Each Coconut Craze bar has 15g of protein, which is a solid amount for a snack and can help you work towards your daily protein target.
At 160 calories, it’s also easy enough to fit into your daily calorie count, whether you have it after training, with a coffee in the afternoon, or just when you fancy something sweet.
Then there’s the fibre content.
Each bar gives you around a third of your recommended daily fibre intake, which is much higher than you’ll find in a lot of protein bars.
That mix of protein and fibre helps make the bar more satisfying, rather than leaving you looking for another snack ten minutes later.
And with only 1.1g of sugar, it manages to keep the sugar low without tasting like it has.
Final Thoughts
The Vieve coconut protein bar basically ticks all the boxes.
It has a good amount of protein, loads of fibre, hardly any sugar, and only 160 calories.
More importantly, though, it actually tastes good. Which I think we can all agree really isn’t a given when it comes to protein bars!
