DY Nutrition has said it’s introducing “advanced, multi-layered” security features amid a surge in copycat supplements.
The nutrition brand, founded by six-time Mr. Olympia champion Dorian Yates, first flagged the issue to customers last year when it discovered a counterfeit protein product in circulation.
The black market imitation reportedly shared the exact LOT number as a genuine DY Nutrition batch, forcing the bodybuilding legend to order the destruction of stock as a precaution.
Testing of the counterfeit protein revealed it didn’t contain anything harmful, though it was higher in carbohydrates and featured creatine — an ingredient not in DY Nutrition’s authentic formulation.
In a fresh statement on the matter, Yates and co. said: “Your safety is our absolute priority.
“Unfortunately, we have been facing a surge of counterfeit products from different parts of the world.
“To protect you, we are currently in the process of implementing advanced, multi-layered security features on all our labels.

“This will allow you to instantly verify the authenticity of your product and access quality control documents by simply scanning a QR code.
“As this is a significant update, the implementation will take some time to be rolled out across our entire product range. We appreciate your understanding during this transition.
“We believe that when you choose our supplements, you must have complete certainty about what you are taking.
“Protecting that trust is vital to us, as we continue to prioritise your health and safety above all else.
“Thank you for your patience and loyalty as we take these necessary steps to safeguard your health and protect our brand integrity.”
DY Nutrition Calls Out Unauthorised Seller Pars Nutrition
A QR code system was one of the measures DY Nutrition had mentioned in its first statement back in October 2024.
Since then, the brand has flagged Pars Nutrition — a supplement distributor seemingly based in the Middle East — as an unauthorised seller.

It warned to look out for suspicious details like incorrect flavour stickers and the wrong address on packaging as a telltale of potentially dangerous fakes.
Dorian Yates: The Shadow Behind DY Nutrition’s Legacy
Born in the West Midlands, Dorian Yates is just one of four men to retire the reigning Mr. Olympia.
He won the coveted title six times consecutively from 1992 to 1997, earning the nickname “The Shadow” for unexpectedly appearing at major contests and dominating them.
Very much a trailblazer of the sport, Yates brought never-before-seen size to the circuit, coupled with unparalleled conditioning.
The muscleman was involved with various supplement brands before leaving to form DY Nutrition.
Best-sellers include the signature Blood & Guts Pre-Workout, along with the Whey Complex Tempro — a blend of four high-quality proteins optimised with digestive enzymes for increased absorption.
DY Nutrition products can be found on six continents, including Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, with the operator boasting a particularly large fanbase in the Middle East.
