Everything You Need to Know About TRYKA — Ireland’s Fast-Rising Hybrid Race

Ready to test strength, speed, and grit? TRYKA brings it all together in one epic event.

Ireland’s fitness scene just got a serious shake-up thanks to TRYKA, the country’s first inclusive hybrid fitness race league. This fast-growing event mixes strength, endurance, and community in one high-energy package that’s already drawing athletes from every corner of the country.

Whether you’re chasing a new challenge or just want to experience the buzz of a live competition, TRYKA promises something totally fresh.

So here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new race.

What TRYKA Is

TRYKA is Ireland’s answer to the booming world of hybrid racing. Think HYROX and you’re on the right track.

It combines running intervals with functional fitness stations, giving you a full-body test of speed, power, and grit.

Created with a strong focus on accessibility and community, TRYKA brings athletes together for a shared goal: to push limits while having a blast. With its Irish roots and plans to expand across Europe, TRYKA is quickly becoming the name to know in the hybrid fitness world.

Who It’s For

The beauty of TRYKA is that it’s open to everyone. First-timer curious about functional training? You’re in. Experienced athlete ready to test your strength? You’re in too.

The Open Division is perfect if you’re looking for a solid introduction, while the Pro Division ups the ante with heavier weights and tougher competition. Prefer to share the load? The Relay Division lets teams of two or four split the stations.

Beginners can even try the exclusive TRYKA 500 with shorter 500 m run intervals. Plus, age brackets run from 18 to 75+, so you’ll always compete on a level playing field.

The Race Format

A full TRYKA race features eight demanding stations with running intervals between each one.

The combination of cardio and functional strength keeps things intense from start to finish and challenges every part of your body.

The Stations Within TRYKA

Each race packs in these eight stations, all designed to test different skills. So what exactly can you expect? Let’s take a quick look at the eight stations included in each race:

  • SkiErg – A full-body cardio blast right from the start.
  • Farmer’s Carry – Grip and core strength on display as you haul heavy weights.
  • Ram Thrusters – Power through squats and presses to light up your legs and shoulders.
  • Sled Push – Pure lower-body drive as you move heavy resistance.
  • Sled Pull – Upper-body power and coordination meet in this back-burning challenge.
  • Rower – High-intensity cardio with every stroke.
  • Walking Lunges – Balance and strength for those burning quads.
  • Burpee Broad Jumps – Explosive finishing moves that demand everything you’ve got.

When and Where the Races Are

The first-ever TRYKA event kicks off at the RDS in Dublin on October 11–12, 2025. More Dublin events will follow, with expansion across Ireland, the UK, and Europe in 2026.

The season builds toward a Grand Finale in the Algarve, Portugal, where athletes from every division will come together for an epic showdown.

Getting Ready for TRYKA

If you’re thinking about taking on TRYKA, the best thing you can do is keep your training steady and consistent. Mixing in functional workouts, regular runs, and sessions that combine the two will give you a solid base for race day.

The whole point is to be ready for both the cardio and the strength stations, so it helps to practise moving between activities with your heart rate up.

To make things easier, affiliate gyms around Ireland are already running TRYKA-style sessions where you can get a feel for the format. And once you’ve signed up, you’ll get access to a free 12-week plan through your TRYKA dashboard, so you’ve got a clear guide to follow in the lead-up to your event.

Whether you stick with your local gym, train with a mate, or follow the plan on your own, the main thing is to build consistency and arrive feeling confident.
