Gladiators is back on the big screen, courtesy of BBC One, and with a modern revamp too! 16 new stars will be facing the contenders and we will be giving you brief insights into their roles and personalities. Today, you get Dynamite!

Emily Steel plays the role Dynamite from Gladiators and she hails from Manchester. Standing at 5ft 5in, she could pass for a university sophomore, but she packs a lot of power behind that stature. At 20 years, Emily is the youngest of the 16 gladiator stars, but she holds a weightlifting record in the British U23 category and has a certain fixation with body building that ensures she is the perfect fit for the Dynamite role.

Dynamite from Gladiators has shown an aptitude for sport since childhood, participating in swimming contests up to national levels till she was 15. Even after her switch to bodybuilding, Emily maintains a stunning athletic figure as an elite full-time CrossFit athlete. She may look small, but the explosive Dynamite is ready to blow contenders away with her superpowers.

Emily also juggles her CrossFit bodybuilding routine with studies. Yes, Dynamite from Gladiators is a second-year student in sport and exercise science at Loughborough University, and her entry into acting was on a whim. Her Instagram post says it all: “Well, this is a little bit of a plot twist…Sometimes the unplanned, spontaneous things in life are the most exciting ones.”

Dynamite from Gladiators is ‘too young to remember the original Gladiators,’ but following her parents’ prompts, she decided to try out the role. While Emily confirms that the role is out of her comfort zone, ‘Dynamite really does represent’ who she is, and she is ‘excited to showcase what she can do in the games.’

The Gladiators website describes Dynamite as ‘small, explosive, and dangerous,’ and with good reason. After competing in CrossFit events for the past four years and representing British Weightlifting at international levels, Emily Steel is ready for her next big challenge, and Dynamite from Gladiators is just the role for her. The Gladiators TV show will start airing on BBC One by 13 January 2024. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
