Montell Douglas, also known as Fire, is a former Great Britain Sprinter and Olympic Bobsledder. Montell, who loves to inspire young women to chase their dreams regardless of their background, age or height, once held the British women’s record for fastest 100m sprint.
Montell Fire from Gladiators gained widespread recognition when she broke the record in the 100m sprint. At 11.05 seconds, Montell created a new record, as the previous one was unbeaten for 27 years. Montell’s dedication to the sport has made her a notable figure in British sprinting.
In addition to her successes, Montell has been a valuable asset to the British relay teams. She competed in the Summer and Winter Olympics as the first UK female athlete, making sporting history.
Bobsledding began for Montell in 2016, with her debuting the next year at the World Cup and finishing within the Top 10. Before then, in 2010, Montell won Commonwealth Gold in the 4x100m race held in Delhi. She also holds a silver medal in the European Under-23 100m category.
Just recently, in 2022, Montell went back to Beijing, where she competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics. This time around, although 14 years later, she competed in the Winter Olympics as Mica McNeill’s two-woman sled breakwoman.
Montell has not only excelled in British athletics but has also become a respected personality off the track. She advocated for women in sports, actively promoting gender equality and earning admiration from the public.
Named Fire on the TV show Gladiators, Montell aims to display her strength and power, as being a Gladiator has always been one of her dreams.
