Fitness fanatics have now got a new way to meet potential partners who enjoy hitting the gym as much as they do – FITFCK.
It’s a dating app designed specifically for gym-goers to help them find like minded matches as well as a new community where they can share their love of all things fitness.
So what do you need to know about FITFCK?
First things first. How do you even say FITFCK? Well it’s a bit more PG than it looks, and is pronounced FIT-eff-see-kay.
Even with the more innocent pronunciation, it’s still pretty clear what FITFCK is all about – helping fitness fans find fellow gym lovers who they’ll hopefully find a spark and a connection with.
FITFCK Origins
The idea came about after founder Jamie Wykes-Hobday was dumped by his partner in the run up to a bodybuilding competition, after she got tired of feeling like she came second in his life to the gym and to his fitness routine.
Jamie realised that there must be loads of people out there like him who do prioritise their fitness and their workouts, and set out to create a way to help them connect with others with similar interests who understand life as a fitness fanatic.
The idea is pretty unique in the world of dating websites and apps, focusing exclusively on gym-goers who share the same passion for working on their bodies, their health, and their overall wellbeing.
And while sharing gym selfies is often seen as a bit of a negative on other dating apps, they’re the only kinds of photos you’ll be allowed to share on FITFCK.
Explaining why he wants to make sure that everyone using the app is a genuine fitness fan, Jamie says: “For me, a fitness enthusiast is someone looking to better themselves mentally and physically by going to the gym. Are we saying that you have to have a six pack and 2% body fat to be on our platform? No. But are we saying you have to go to the gym? Yes. Because that’s our niche and that makes sense. And if people find that elitist, then so be it”.
Big Name Investors
FITFCK is already making waves in both the fitness and dating apps world, and it’s helped them attract some pretty impressive investors.
Among them is OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely who’s known Jamie for around 3 years and, clearly, has a knack for spotting good business opportunities. Stokely is quoted as saying, “I’m delighted to announce my investment in FITFCK. Having known Jamie for over three years now; his vision, drive and determination coupled with the brand concept is something that I fully believe in.”
Wykes-Hobday has also received financial backing from gaming YouTubers Sam Harry and Martin Wood, AKA Chaotic and SXVXN. And what’s particularly exciting about these investors is the skillset they bring to the mix (along with the presumably substantial amounts of money).
The plan is for FITFCK to evolve over time to be more than simply a dating app. It’s already proving to be a great community for fitness lovers, with meetups and events attracting huge amounts of interest. They’ll also be diving deeper into the world of online content creation with a YouTube channel, TikTok presence, and even a podcast, with the goal of becoming a well known digital brand.
At its heart though, FITFCK is for fitness fanatics to connect with each other. To find new friends and workout partners as well as potential romantic matches with like-minded people who understand the lifestyle and also prioritise their fitness goals.
The app will be up and running on IOS and Android this year and in the meantime you can find out about FITFCK events on the website.
