Gymshark Onyx 5.0 sold out fast — but the story (and the hype) isn’t over yet.
Benjamin Franklin once famously wrote, “nothing is certain except death and taxes.”
If he were alive to see the drop of Gymshark Onyx 5.0, he might’ve added “and instant sellouts” to the list.
Come 7:25 p.m. yesterday evening, the brand’s most sought-after collection had been completely cleared out.
In just 25 minutes, fans snapped up every last thread of Onyx — and the only surprise was that it took them that long.
Though arguably, it didn’t. Gymshark’s Instagram comments were flooded with people who missed out, claiming it was a fraction of that time.
The Onyx machine was unstoppable, creating hype in the gym community like we’ve never seen before.
Gymshark constructed a whole DC Multiverse for the launch, assembling a superhero squad of musclebound poster boys — including David Laid — to thrust the range back into the spotlight after five years in the shadows.
Their plan clearly worked. The first attempt at release drove three times the usual Black Friday traffic to the site — albeit crashing it in the process.
There was also the small matter of a bot invasion, forcing Gymshark to hit pause and curtail the drop.
The second swing didn’t come without its bumps. Some fans say they were in line to check out for 15 minutes, only to find their carts emptied before they could complete the order.
Meanwhile, platforms like eBay are already rife with resellers flipping their Gymshark Onyx 5.0 hauls for triple the retail value.
In Gymshark’s defence, such hiccups were almost inevitable, given the demand for this drop.
And for those left with a bitter taste after weeks of excitement — all is not lost.
Gymshark signed off launch day with a cryptic message: “Onyx will return. Be ready.”

This saga is far from over.
What is Gymshark Onyx 5.0?
Onyx is Gymshark’s most exclusive, most sought-after range — a trio of heavy-duty compression tops (short sleeve, long sleeve, and tank) that give off pure superhero energy.
Think sculpted silhouettes, breathable closed-hole mesh, textured fabrics, raised rubber branding, and raglan sleeves that make those boulder shoulders pop.
It’s built to show off the physique you’ve earned — and scream main character energy at the gym. And it’s not just tops: the collection also includes seamless compression shorts and tights built for performance and aesthetic impact alike.
This latest drop included three colourways:
- Onyx Grey
- Carmine Red
- The returning icon: Brand Blue
Across all five iterations, Onyx has remained highly exclusive. It’s made to move — and to sell out fast.
The line has achieved cult status in the gymwear community, and this drop only adds to that legacy.
It’s still unclear whether the teaser confirms a Gymshark Onyx 5.0 restock — or if we’ll have to wait for a fresh design in edition six.
Either way, a sequel is in the works. And Onyx hysteria is far from over.
