Everything You Need to Know About Gymshark’s New Onyx Midnight Loyalty Drop

Gymshark Announces Limited-Edition Onyx Midnight Black for Loyalty Members Only

Just when we thought the Onyx saga had played all its cards, Gymshark dropped the mother of all curveballs.

On Monday, a fresh teaser landed for what looked like the long-awaited second — or arguably third — online release. It seemed to be the shot at redemption fans had been shouting for.

A new chance to grab those iconic compression tops in Onyx Grey, Carmine Red, and the beloved Brand Blue.

But Gymshark had other plans.

Instead of a standard restock, the apparel giant revealed its pocket ace — a brand-new, limited-edition colourway exclusively for its most loyal fans: Onyx Midnight Black.

Here’s when it’s dropping, and how you can get your hands on it.

Gymshark Onyx Midnight Black: What You Need to Know

Onyx Midnight is exactly as described — a blacked-out version of the brand’s most exclusive fit. The raised rubber logo adds a sharp contrast in Brand Blue, now a defining feature of the Onyx DNA.

Like its three predecessors, Onyx Midnight will be available in short sleeve, long sleeve, and tank options. But the mechanics of this drop are wholly different from those we’ve seen before.

Onyx Midnight is exclusively for Gymshark Loyalty members in tiers 2, 3, and 4. It goes live at 7pm BST on Thursday, 17 July.

As we know, bots have been a recurring thorn in Gymshark’s side throughout the Onyx 5.0 storyline.

The first release had to be paused after the website was crashed by a swarm of resellers looking to cash in on the collection’s long hiatus.

That was less of an issue the second time around, though plenty of fans still complained that every thread of Onyx had been cleaned out before they even made it to the website.

Sites like eBay were almost instantly awash with Onyx tops in all three colourways. This is Gymshark’s final play to ensure the day ones still get a fair shot.

“We want Onyx to be for the real fans, not the bots,” the brand wrote on Instagram.

“So we’ve made it an exclusive drop for Gymshark Loyalty members to make sure as many people as possible can get their hands on it.”

How Will the Release Work?

Eligible members will be sent their own personal link for Onyx Midnight 15 minutes before the drop. Gymshark has warned against sharing the link around, as it won’t work if used by multiple people.

If you’re currently in Tier 1, you have until 11.59pm today to move up to the next level.

What Is the Gymshark Loyalty Programme?

Earlier this year, Gymshark launched its first-ever Loyalty Programme to reward fans for showing up.

The four-tier system is governed by XP — or experience points, for those who didn’t spend their childhoods gaming.

Here’s what they look like, along with what rewards are included:

Tier 1 (0–1,249 XP)

  • Birthday Reward
  • Anniversary Reward
  • Exclusive Offers
  • Early Access

Tier 2 (1,250–2,999 XP)

  • £10 Reward
  • All Tier 1 Benefits
  • Partnership Discounts
  • Priority Access

Tier 3 (3,000–4,999 XP)

  • £15 Reward
  • Tier 2 Benefits
  • Exclusive Access

Tier 4 (5,000+ XP)

  • £20 Reward
  • Tier 3 Benefits
  • Annual Member Reward

Earning XP isn’t just about going wild with your credit card — though spending money is obviously part of it. For every £1 spent on the website or Gymshark app, you’ll earn 10 XP.

Other ways to earn include signing up for texts and emails, and logging workouts through the Gymshark Training App.

It’s free to sign up, though if you’re doing so with Onyx Midnight in mind, you’ll need to spend comfortably north of £100 to qualify for Tier 2 straight away.

Unfortunately, returning your haul will see XP deducted from your account. It’s a less-than-ideal feature, but one that’s necessary to stop people exploiting loopholes and trying to level up fast.

What Fans Are Saying

With the number of people Gymshark is trying to please — and the bot elephant in the room — keeping everyone happy is a near impossibility.

Fans in eligible tiers are understandably buzzing with this latest news, while others are calling it a “pay to win” lottery.

Their frustrations are valid. Some will have bought plenty of Gymshark gear before the Loyalty Programme’s inception.

In fairness, Gymshark did backdate XP for orders placed earlier in 2025, but there was understandably a cut-off on how far into the past it could go.

There’s also the question of whether resellers from previous Onyx drops might benefit from this new setup, having potentially amassed XP themselves.

Either way, Gymshark had to do something to try and level the playing field — and it tracks that it would turn to the new Loyalty Programme.

Given the hype around Onyx 5.0 — let alone Onyx Midnight — some were bound to be left disappointed.
