33-year-old Mike Thurston is no stranger to speculation about his natty status—and it’s hardly surprising. The jacked Brit has a physique that Greek gods would envy.
Factor in his success and globe-trotting lifestyle, and you’ve got a recipe for some serious hype.
Throughout his many years of online stardom, Mike Thurston has constantly been accused of taking steroids by both fans and his peers.
Straight-talking influencer and former bodybuilding champion Eddie Abbew was the most recent high-profile figure to refuse Mike Thurston’s natty claim.
Asked if he thought the Leeds-born muscleman was natural, he replied: “No, I won’t believe him. I don’t think he’s natural at all.”
Thurston has always maintained he’s natural, and once again hit back at the critics on an episode of Charlie Johnson’s Coaching Transformation.
“I’ve been getting asked if I’m natural for at least a decade now,” he said. “It’s not so much that I’m bothered about the accusations because in a sense it’s a compliment.
“But I think the thing that annoys me is when people accuse me of lying. I’ve mentioned it a few times on podcasts because people ask me if I’m telling the truth, and I’m like, ‘no, I’ve never taken anything’, and they still accuse me of lying.
“Even now when I do a video on YouTube on the topic of training, all the comments say things like ‘steroids’, ‘fake natty’, blah, blah, blah.
“I wish there was one single test that would just prove everything, but unfortunately there isn’t. Even now if I was to do a test it doesn’t prove that I haven’t taken anything before.”
