We put The Curators to the test to see if they really have the best Biltong for making gains. Here’s how we got on:
For a while now, I’ve been trying to pivot away from relying too heavily on protein shakes. Sure, they’re quick, easy to swig back, and perfect when you need a protein hit in a rush.
But am I the only one who feels bloated, uncomfortable, and, let’s be honest, a little sick after drinking one? Not to mention that overpowering, sickly-sweet aftertaste that lingers for hours.
My quest for a convenient protein source that didn’t involve liquid or synthetic sweeteners led me to The Curators.
Having already tried (and fallen in love with) their Pork Puffs and Cheesies, I figured it was time to test the OG Biltong.
Is it really the best Biltong out there? Let’s find out. Before we do, here’s a top tip: Save 20% on your order with code GYMFLUENCERSAGENCY.
Beefing Up With Biltong
The first thing I did when my care package of Biltong turned up was check the back of the packet, because that’s the first move I’d make if I was shopping for protein in the supermarket.
I’ve got to say, this is some seriously supercharged beef. Each 26g serving contains:
- 14g of natural protein
- 1.5g of fat (0.6g saturates)
- Less than 1g of carbs
- Just 70 calories
Sure, you could squeeze a few extra grams of protein in with a shake or bar, but there’s a reason The Curators’ Biltong has the edge, which we’ll get onto very shortly.
For now, though, I just want to take a second to appreciate the macros. The numbers are as good, if not better, than any Biltong I’ve ever grabbed off the shelf.
Plus, it’s sugar-free and super low calorie, making it the ideal trade for your low-carb protein shakes.
The Taste Test: Is This The Best Biltong?
With the macros providing an early lead, the decision on whether this is the best Biltong comes down to the all-important taste test.
Now, I’m no Biltong aficionado, but I’ve chomped my way through enough of the stuff to know it can often be as dry as a boot, and as leathery as a sandal.
Having been impressed by the rest of The Curators’ range, I was almost nervous to try it. What if it lets me down? What if, after all this time, The Curators weren’t the snack gods I’d thought they were?
Don’t be silly, of course it was delicious. Made with premium cuts of British and Irish grass-fed beef and seasoned to perfection, this Biltong was everything.

It had bite without being chewy, flavour without being overbearing, and that umami punch that kept drawing my hand back to the packet.
A combination of chilli, black pepper, cloves, and nutmeg gave it that earthy kick, while a subtle hint of coriander and vinegar brought my tongue to life.
Is this the best Biltong around? Well, I haven’t tried them all, but it’s certainly at the top of my personal list, and I can’t see it being knocked off anytime soon.
Why Beef Is Best
You might remember me saying earlier that The Curators’ Biltong has the edge over protein shakes, so let me circle back.
Relying too much on protein shakes to hit your daily targets can be a costly trap to fall into. Why? Because while they’re high in protein, they don’t offer much else.
Beef, on the other hand, is rich in important nutrients like iron, zinc, and B vitamins, which are essential for energy production and immune function.
Plus, it’s slow digesting, helping to keep you fuelled for longer while you’re on the go.
The Final Chew
I’m going to make a bold claim: The Curators’ Biltong is the best Biltong I’ve had to date, and I challenge anyone to change my mind.
And if you, like me, want to move away from protein shakes and welcome some variety back into your life, this Biltong is a great place to start.
At £23.99 for 12 bags, it comes in at a solid price when you consider the quality of the meat. But if you want to get it a little cheaper (let’s face it, who doesn’t?), use code GYMFLUENCERSAGENCY for 20% off.
