Dark knight of the fitness realm James Smith has called out fellow content creator V Shred for ‘faking’ an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
V Shred, otherwise known as Vince Sant, is a fitness influencer and entrepreneur who rose to fame through his fitness and nutrition program named V Shred.
He started the company in 2016 and has since amassed more than 2m subscribers on YouTube and 1.6m followers on Instagram. However, many people in the fitness circle suspect many of those followers to be fake.
No stranger to controversy, V Shred was sued by the National Advertising Division for deceptive advertising practices related to its weight loss supplements.
While V Shred has defended its practices and claims to have made changes to address criticisms, these issues have continued to be a source of controversy for the company.
In fact, V Shred still often pops up via paid-for advertisements making bold claims about diet hacks and his supposed disdain for cardio.
And it was during one of those advertisements showing him scoffing pizza with his rippling abs that eagle-eyed Smith realised V Shred had tried to mimic the set from Joe Rogan‘s podcast to dupe fans into thinking he had been invited to speak with the legendary host.
The ad featured a suspiciously similar red velvet curtain to the one Joe Rogan uses, with V Shred even sitting in a similar position to that of the revered show’s guests.
“V Shred, you’re a f****** nobhead,” Smith said. “Some of us are in that position of trying to mimic the equipment, sure. But the backdrop for an advert, that is some Machiavellian bulls***.”
He continued: “These aren’t fitness professionals, they’re marketing professionals. The point I want to make clear is that these are the lengths they will go to in order to convince people of their gravitas or their position in the industry… The moral of the story is, don’t be gullible.”
