Almost everyone knows James Smith as that popular trainer and social media influencer making him one of the most sought-after personal trainers. If you’re really into fitness, you’ve probably come across his videos on social media platforms, where he shares different fitness advice.
James recently shared a video on his YouTube channel to explain why many people get bored of lifting weights.
According to him, getting bored of weight training is a normal thing, and if you’re not bored yet, you’ll soon be. He said just like most things in life, muscle growth and the response you get from training also have diminishing returns.
In your first year of lifting weights, you’re going to grow the most amount of muscle which is called Newbie gains, but don’t be surprised because in subsequent years, the amount of muscle you can grow naturally will diminish, even if your nutrition is perfect.
At this point, if you’re not a competitive bodybuilder, you’ll begin to get bored of lifting weights. In fact, some people give up on building muscles and become long-distance runners instead.
James also made it clear that the amount of muscle you grow depends greatly on genetics. While some people go through life with little androgenic profile, others have high levels of testosterone. People with high levels of testosterone build muscle easily and stay lean with little effort.
If you’re trying to build muscle with a minimal androgenic profile, then you’ll get frustrated from following those with high testosterone.
According to his YouTube video, one sure way to help you is to go into any kind of sport and prepare ahead for muscle diminishing. You can also get into CrossFit or Jiu-Jitsu. This way, the weight training you do for the next three to five years will be the foundation for the sport you choose.
