In a recent YouTube video, titled ‘Social Media Is F**King Us Up’, James Smith has made his feelings about Eddie Abbew absolutely clear. In the 12 minute rant about how bad social media can be for our mental health and overall wellbeing, Smith slams the former bodybuilder for the information he shares on his channels.
One of the things Smith takes issue with is Abbew’s claims that most of the foods we eat today are rubbish, and that if we all just ate more meat and eggs all our problems would be solved. In fact, he goes so far as to suggest that depression is all down to bad diet, which hasn’t gone down well with James Smith.
Laying into Eddie, he goes on to express his annoyance at someone who used drugs to build the, admittedly impressive, physique he had back in his bodybuilding days, claiming that we could all be in great shape if we just ate more meat and eggs.
Smith also points out that someone who ‘bodybuilds to that level, and gets in them skimpy underwear to tense on stage to impress another bunch of blokes’, clearly craves some kind of attention. And that for Eddie, being controversial and making big claims on social media is just another way to get that attention. The problem is, people watching his videos can buy into what he’s saying, and that won’t always end well.
It’s well worth popping over to James’ channel and watching the full video to hear all his other reasons why social media can be harmful, if only to get a bit of perspective if you’ve been feeling a bit down that your results in the gym aren’t matching up to what you see online.
