Straight-talking online personal trainer, author and all-around fitness guru James Smith has revealed he’s going to be giving away all the revenue he makes through YouTube.

Announcing the act of generosity in one of his latest videos on the platform, the 30-year-old said his plan was part of a push to diversify his videos and bring a bit more of a light-hearted feel to his channel.
As part of that, viewers can expect food challenges, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, mixed in with a hearty helping of his usual no-holds-barred training and lifestyle tips, of course.
Laying out his master plan, he said: “Actual Facebook headquarters in London are always badgering me like, ‘James, put your monetisation on’, but I don’t because I don’t want to interrupt things with adverts.
“With YouTube, I’ve never done it either, but this week I thought, ‘f**k it. So, here’s my promise. Every time I post a new video, that video will not have any monetisation until I create a new one. So, in essence, you get rewarded for watching something as soon as it comes out.
“If you wait five days to a week and I’ve made more content then you’ll have to sit through an advert. But they will always be skippable ones, which I don’t make much money on. I think this week I made around $100.”
He added: “Here’s my second promise. Any money I make through YouTube I will put towards a good cause that has nothing to do with me. Whether it’s buying someone some gym equipment, getting a jiu-jitsu enthusiast a new gi, or buying one of you guys lunch – it’s always going to be an act of kindness.”
