Two years after his shock announcement that he was retiring from fighting, UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has surprised everyone again by announcing he’s stepping back completely from the world of MMA.
The former UFC champion stopped fighting in 2020 after the death of his father so he could spend more time with his family, but he kept working in MMA as a coach and promoter for Eagle FC and the regular travel meant he was still away from them a lot of the time.
Now though he’s stepping away from it all for good, sharing a post to his Instagram that stated, “Khabib is leaving the MMA industry. It’s about coaching and everything else related to MMA. The reason is Khabib’s desire to devote more time to his family”.
Khabib will go down in MMA history as one of the greatest fighters of all time thanks to his epic 29-0 run in the UFC that included wins against Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, and he was still at the top of his game when he quit fighting.
And over the last two years he built a reputation for himself as one of the best coaches in the sport as well, so whatever he gets up to next he’s leaving behind an amazing legacy in MMA. But one thing is sure, Kabib Nurmagomedov Quits Eagle FC Promotion & MMA For Good and is most likely not coming back.
