YouTuber turned boxer KSI has revealed he is ‘taking a break’ from social media after making a racial slur in a recent YouTube video.
The rapper and co-owner of the popular hydration drink, PRIME, announced the news while apologising to fans on Twitter.
He made the slur during a Sidemen Sunday video, where they played a Countdown-style challenge.
From the selection of letters, KSI created a four-letter derogatory word for people of Pakistani origin.
“I wanna apologise for saying a racial slur in a recent Sidemen video,” the 29-year-old tweeted.
“There’s no excuse, no matter the circumstances, I shouldn’t have said it and I’m sorry. I’ve always said to my audience that they shouldn’t worship me or put me on a pedestal because I’m human. Im not perfect, I’m gonna mess up in life, and lately, I’ve been messing up a lot.
“So I’ve decided I’m gonna just take a break from social media for a while.”
The video has since been deleted from The Sidemen’s YouTube channel, which has more than 18 million subscribers. The rest of the group has also faced criticism for laughing at the slur.
