Matt Morsia Injury: Gladiators Star Faces Fresh Setback in Torn Bicep Recovery
Matt Morsia is quickly discovering the meaning of the popular proverb, “It never rains but it pours.”
The jinxed star was recently hospitalised for almost two weeks following a “freak accident” while filming Season 3 of Gladiators.
Legend, as he’s known on the show, was tackling a fellow contender in one of the games when he tore his distal bicep tendon off the bone.
While his surgery, which took place five days after the grisly injury, was successful, Morsia soon started to experience serious fallout symptoms.

The Huel and Gymshark athlete began vomiting after every meal, dropping from the ‘best shape of his life’ at 97kg to 82kg due to what was later discovered as acute gastritis and oesophagitis.
Now, in a cruel twist of fate, he’s suffered yet another setback.
Matt Morsia Injury: Full Send Mode
While updating his fans on the recovery, Morsia revealed he’s been stopped in his tracks by yet more injury woes.
“As if the ruptured bicep tendon and then the surgery, gastritis, oesophagitis, two weeks in hospital and losing 15kg of bodyweight wasn’t enough, god just thought why not full send it,” he said tongue-in-cheek to his 1.2 million Instagram followers.
Morsia explained he now has nerve damage in his uninjured side, brought on from being bed-bound for two weeks.
The stint in hospital caused his long thoracic nerve to compress, hugely restricting range of motion and making his right upper body “50% weaker.”
“It’s very, very frustrating,” he added. “Fingers crossed it will start to clear up soon. I’ve had an MRI scan and the nerve’s not damaged, it just seems to have been compressed somewhere around the C5, C6 (region).”

Morsia has been piling in the calories to try regain the lost bodyweight. His current diet consists of chomping through 5,500–6,000 calories a day as he looks to create enough of a surplus to bounce back to his former physique.
That mission is being hampered by his latest complications, though he’s managed to make some progress.
“In terms of the physique update, I’m now up to 90kg,” Morsia continued. “So I was 96–97kg before all of this stuff and went down to 82kg at my worst.”
Morsia did manage to make enough of a recovery to meet fans at Gymshark’s first ever Lift London event over the weekend.
He posted a picture of some of the mega meals he’s been consuming to bulk up. One of the most recent consisted of five whole eggs, four pieces of toast, 80g of butter, and orange juice — just under 1,800 calories.
Here’s hoping this is the last of the Matt Morsia injury news.
