If you’re looking for some serious workout inspiration, MattDoesFitness has got you covered! In his latest YouTube video, Matt breaks down his intense weekly workout routine as he gears up for series 2 of Gladiators.
To keep in legendary shape for the show, Matt breaks his training up into morning and afternoon sessions, with a focus on bodybuilding in the mornings and more functional training in the afternoons.
So let’s take a look at what the guy gets up to:
Matt kicks off his mornings with some serious bodybuilding to sculpt and maintain his Gladiator physique. Mondays and Thursdays are spent doing push workouts in his home gym. Tuesdays and Fridays are leg days. And Wednesdays and Saturdays are for pull workouts.
As for the afternoons, well that’s when he works on functional and skill-based training, to prepare him to take on the contenders in all the Gladiator games.
A week of afternoons for Matt looks like this:
- Monday: Sprints and agility drills for games where speed is key.
- Tuesday: A second pull workout focused on grip strength, crucial for events like ‘Hang Tough’ and ‘The Wall’.
- Wednesday: Sports massage to keep those muscles in top shape.
- Thursday: Rugby training, focusing on tackling to prepare for high-impact events like ‘Powerball’.
- Friday: Climbing at F51 Climbing Centre, honing his technique and speed for ‘The Wall’ with both technical and speed climbs.
- Saturday: Another pull workout, but lighter and with more reps.
With such a full-on training schedule I think it’s safe to say that Legend will be well and truly ready to step back in the Gladiators arena for series 2!
