MyProtein Whey Forward

With society being painfully aware of global warming and the impact our carbon emissions are having on our world, brands that step up to make a difference are worth taking note of. MyProtein has done just that. They have partnered with Perfect Day to create a whey protein powder that is animal and lactose-free, yet doesn’t compromise on flavour or quality. This new formula is designed to fuel recovery, and power performance, just like traditional whey, is packed with 20g of protein, 4.7g of BCAAs, and 0g of sugar! It has the same smooth, creamy texture as dairy whey protein, just without the cow. Fermented, not farmed, is their motto.

For those of you who are more technically minded, here’s how MyProtein does it:

  1. Learning: Perfect Day scientists teach microflora (microscopic plants) to create animal-free milk protein.
  2. Feeding Time: Plant sugars are fed to the microflora, which will be absorbed and converted into milk protein.
  3. Fermentation: Milk protein is produced through fermentation (a similar process to the way yoghurt or beer is created.)
  4. Protein: After this process, the final product is a protein that is milk-free, yet identical to cow’s milk.

So far, the only flavour advertised are decedent chocolate brownie, creamy mint choc chip, and rich salted caramel, but there are plenty more delicious flavours on their way.

MyProtein, together with Perfect Day are paving the WHEY to a healthier, more eco-friendly future.
