New Teaser Drops for Gymshark Onyx Release — Here’s Everything We Know

Why the Latest Gymshark Onyx Release Has Fans Losing Their Minds (Again)

Gymshark Onyx 5.0 was billed as the superhero sequel to its predecessors.

The brand built up a whole Batman Returns-style plot around the comeback, using athletes like David Laid as the heroine.

Much like DC’s Batman, it walked the tightrope between good and bad. Such was the drama, Onyx could’ve been its own comic book series.

The storyline had everything: bot chaos, a delayed release, mobbed in-store drops, resale sites flooded with Onyx at hugely inflated prices.

At the end of it all, fans were left with mixed feelings. The lucky few who managed to grab a piece amid the madness were ecstatic.

But for those who failed at multiple attempts, the whole saga left a sour taste.

Then came the news last month of a second — arguably third — online Gymshark Onyx release.

Now, the apparel giant has dropped its latest teaser. Onyx is stepping back out of the shadows — don’t blink.

Here’s what we know so far.

Breaking Down the Latest Gymshark Onyx Release

Gymshark teased the Onyx second coming in June with a Ditch & Switch event that caused absolute carnage in the streets of NYC.

Creative Director of Lifting and all-round Onyx poster boy David Laid literally sat in the back of a van swapping non-Gymshark compression tops for the coveted Brand Blue colourway.

The location dropped last-minute, and with only 250 tops available, it sparked a mad dash across the Big Apple from those desperate to get their hands on a slice of gymwear heritage.

True to form, it was chaos.

One fan flew in from Brazil to queue, while internet sleuths decoded teaser pics like GeoGuessr champions just to get the jump on where the Ditch & Switch would take place.

All of this only fuelled the fire for the online community still clamouring for a second Gymshark Onyx release.

Finally, Gymshark broke their silence with three words: “July. Be ready.”

Since then, there’s been relative silence. Gymshark dropped a whole Varsity collection in the meantime, but still, the Onyx question remained unanswered… until yesterday.

That changed when Gymshark posted a montage featuring David Laid, Jeff Seid, Carlos Belcast, Sawyer Klatt, Christian “Swole” Ricketts, and other influencer megastars all wearing Onyx tops.

Those pictures were accompanied by the now-iconic line: “Born from the darkness. Built in the shadows. Be ready.”

Expect the official Gymshark Onyx release date any day now.

What is Gymshark Onyx?

Onyx is Gymshark’s most exclusive — and painfully limited — collection. At its core, it’s a lineup of heavy-duty compression tops with Spidey-style detailing that takes pumps to the next level.

Unless another curveball is thrown, this upcoming Gymshark Onyx release will likely feature short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and tank silhouettes — all crafted from thick, premium fabric with raised rubber logos.

Lifting socks, compression shorts, and tights were also part of the last drop, but it’s the tops that steal the spotlight.

Available in Onyx Grey, Carmine Red, and the iconic Brand Blue, these pieces are made to move — and known to vanish from the website within minutes.

It’s been five years since Onyx last surfaced, which goes some way to explaining the hype behind this latest drop.

Previous pieces have resold for upwards of £500 on platforms like eBay, Vinted, and Depop.
