After months of hovering over the “order now” button, I finally caved and trialled Skin + Me. Not to be dramatic, but this is probably my new favourite skincare brand that doesn’t make my bank account scream in pain. If you’ve been scouring the net for Skin + Me reviews, this one is legit.
Usually, I’m very sceptical when it comes to investing in skin. I never know how much of it is a scam and I cringe at wasting my money on things that don’t work. It’s like setting a £20 note alite – futile.
So, when I fell upon a free trial of Skin + Me, I took it as the universe saying “it’s meant to be”. Here’s a quick rundown of the process and the results I saw in just 2 weeks.
The Process
Skin + Me channel “it’s as easy as 1,2,3” because it takes just 3 steps to sort the paperwork and get the products. No faff, no tears.
- Follow the online consultation steps. This takes roughly 15 minutes and it’s all multiple choice. From here, you fill in details about your skin and goals i.e. natural glow, heal acne scarring… you get the gist.
- Take 3 pictures of your face (profile and front-facing).
- Wait 24 hours for your personalised prescription.
The first month is completely free, bar a £3.50 fee for the prescription.
The Science Behind the Prescription
After creating your profile, you wait 24 hours for a professional pharmacist prescriber to email you a prescription.
My skin goals are to manage pesky blackheads and get an even and glowy complexion. Before using Skin + Me, I felt my skin was dry, dull and tired-looking. I drink over 2 litres of water a day and I did have a skincare routine, but I wasn’t buying products that were well-suited to my skin. I was going off recommendations from friends and influencers… not me.
My prescribed bottle (Daily Doser) contained a mixture of ingredients highly personalised to my needs. This includes Tretinoin (cleans pores), Niacinamide (promotes skin firmness) and Azelaic Acid (improves skin texture and exfoliates). There’s a tiny percentage of each ingredient that works together to counteract my patchy and red skin – yay!
How to Use Skin + Me
You’ll get emailed a personalised treatment guide with a morning and evening routine.
In my box, I got:
- 2x cleansers
- 2x moisturisers
- 1x daily doser (the prescription)
My routine was very simple. In the morning, all I had to do was wash my face with the cleanser, and apply the moisturiser and sunscreen. This took me less than 2 minutes and I only needed 3 products. So far, so good.
In the evening, I cleansed and used the daily doser. Then I waited 10 minutes and applied the same moisturiser. E voilà!
The Results
After 2 weeks, I can definitely spot the difference (pardon the pun). My skin looks replenished and brighter. The light scarring I had from picking spots has virtually disappeared. My skin feels tighter and smoother – not a single pimple in sight!
What I love about the Skin + Me treatment is that you don’t need to spend thousands to finally have good skin, or invest in a hundred different products so that your skin routine takes over 30 minutes. I’m a pretty lazy lady, so this fits me fine.
I had no skin irritation or reaction to the daily doser, which is a definite plus. In the past my skin has been quite sensitive, making it hard to find suitable products.
Pros
- Easy to use/apply: no need for any brushes or complicated directions. Hands work best!
- Minimal products required: only 3 products, 2 of which you reuse. So it doesn’t take up heaps of shelf space.
- Quick: As it’s all online, the process is super speedy and there’s little waiting time – great if you’re impatient like me!
- Lovely packaging: the daily doser is personalised with your name on it (literally) and the simplicity of the branding is attractive to the eye.
- Affordable: the first month is free so if you don’t see results, you won’t get burned! After that, you pay £25 a month for the daily doser (you can cancel at any time).
- Flexible: during your skin journey, the products will change and evolve to suit your needs/goals.
Cons
- No physical consultation: it would be nice to speak to someone over the phone or over the counter so they can assess your skin in person. You need access to a really good camera or high-quality photos to upload that highlight your skin in its raw form.
