I love cereal. Whether it’s for breakfast or a late night snack, you can’t really beat a good bowl of cereal. But, let’s be honest, it’s not always the healthiest food in the world. The ones that taste good are normally full of sugar and additives, with minimal nutritional value.

Well, that was until Surreal came along and decided to change the game by introducing healthy cereal that’s packed with protein and contains 0g of sugar.

They’ve created a range of cereals that are:

High in protein (13g per serving)
Sugar-free
Low carb (5g of net carbs per serving)
High in fibre
Low calorie (Just 116 calories per serving)
Vegan
Gluten free

Oh, and they’re actually really delicious too!

Surreal Cereal Range

Surreal cereal comes in 4 different flavours – frosted, cinnamon, cocoa, and peanut butter. And if you pick the variety pack, like I did, you can try them all and decide which one is your favourite.

The cereals are all made with the same base ingredients:

Tapioca starch (packed with fibre and helps improve your digestive system & boost your energy levels)
Sunflower oil (great for lowering cholesterol, reducing inflammation and boosting energy levels)
Inulin from Blue Agave (a rich source of dietary fibre, gluten free, and vegan friendly)
Soy protein isolate (a plant-based complete protein that contains all the essential amino acids our bodies need for growth and repair)
Natural flavour
Natural sweeteners

I have to be honest, I was really surprised when I read the ingredient list because the cereal has such a great texture and crunch that I would assume it was made with grains and wheat like most other cereals.

It holds up really well to being covered in milk and keeps its crunch up to the last spoonful which is something not all cereals can claim.

I think it absolutely lives up to its name.

As soon as you land on their website you know you’ve found something a bit different. Everything is bright and colourful with just enough random elements to raise a few eyebrows (have you seen the skateboarding ant eater yet?!)

It’s really easy to find your way around and place an order on the website. You can place a one-off order to start with, but once you’ve tasted it and know you want more Surreal in your life you can set up a subscription.

Then the cereal is delivered straight to your door ready for you to enjoy.

The boxes all have fun, slightly trippy designs which work perfectly with the Surreal name. It’s a brilliant change from the boring packaging you get with every other healthy breakfast option. It really does put a bit of fun back on the breakfast table.

As far as flavour goes, I’m a lover of all things cinnamon and, having tasted all 4 flavours, the cinnamon cereal from Surreal is my favourite, but the cocoa one comes a very close second!

The thing I liked most about all the flavours though was that they were all nicely sweet, without that background sweetener taste that you normally get from sugar-free products.

I really don’t know how surreal have done it, but they’ve found natural sweeteners that taste great and even have the texture of grains of sugar coating the cereal Os.
