TikTok star Jack Joseph has revealed he nearly died from taking a pre-workout that contained bleach.

The comedian, who has shot to fame by posting short sketches on the app, shared the shocking story while chatting with YouTuber JaackMaate on the Happy Hour Podcast.
The incident forced him to spend a year in and out of the hospital when he was in his late teens, putting an abrupt end to his career in marketing at the time.
By the time he had recovered the country had just been placed in lockdown, allowing him to spend more time creating the content which has since seen him obtain 3.5m followers on TikTok alone.
He said: “I used to go to the gym, and you know you can get those pre-workout pills? You can get them from anywhere like Holland & Barrett. Well, I’m quite cheap with my money, so I was like, ‘I’m going to look online and find the cheapest thing’.
“I found this website that sold cheap pre-workout type pills that help you lift more in the gym and all this kind of stuff. Anyway, I took them for about 5-6 weeks, a couple a day, and then I started going yellow.”
The TikToker said the pills sent him into a “world of madness”. He revealed he couldn’t sleep at night and he was left shaking, eventually prompting him to see a doctor, whose prognosis was that it seemed Jack was suffering withdrawal symptoms from a drug.
He told the rising star to taper off the drugs instead of going full “cold turkey”. But a week later he had to take himself to A&E after his eyes had also started turning yellow. After a few tests staff discovered the pills had damaged his liver and an inspection of what he had been taking revealed a terrifying truth.
“They did a test on the pills,” Jack added. “And it turns out that they were made out of 60% bleach compound, so I was doing bleach for 6 weeks. Pretty mental.”
As part of the recovery process, Jack had to take blood from his arm every day in order to get the chemicals out of his system.
