Like me, I’m sure most of you have gone through your fair share of protein powders. Trying different brands and flavours, sifting through the endless variety to try and choose your favourite, you know you’ll be able to stomach consistently for the foreseeable future. Some whey protein goes best with water, some with milk and let’s be honest, some simply in the bin. However, a new contender in the market has officially won me over, and that is Clear Whey.
If you’ve not heard of it, it’s just what it sounds like: whey protein that dissolves in water to form more of a clear liquid more closely resembling juice. It generally comes almost exclusively in fruity flavours and reminds me of an energy drink rather than a standard milkshake.

Warrior Sports Supplements have jumped right on this tasty bandwagon and have released their very own version of clear whey that can be bought in 4 yummy flavours: sour apple, pineapple, fruit punch and blue raspberry (which I’ve gotten to try.) Their 500g packet of clear whey, can be bought for a very reasonable, £17.99. This is a great option if you want a protein that can be rapidly digested and does not cause the bloating that normal whey sometimes does.
The 1st thing I noticed when I opened the bag was how good it smelled, somewhere between blueberries and bubblegum, and the easy seal function of the bag. The scoop size provides a 25g serving which I found perfect for a post-workout refuel. I scooped the powder into my shaker, added some water and something happened that I can only describe as magic, the cream-coloured powder suddenly transformed into a bright, avatar-like blue colour! Colour surprise aside, the drink itself was very tasty and went down a treat after my hard workout.

For those of you who see the above as gibberish, allow me to interpret it for you. 1 25g Scoop of Warrior Clear Whey contains a very good amount of protein which helps you build and maintain muscle. It is low-calorie compared to a lot of other Whey protein shakes, which is good if you are looking to maintain a calorie deficit but still meet your protein macro target. The low fats and sugar also make this sweet drink a great treat to satisfy that sweet tooth without the negative effects of actual sugar. This drink is also a great option if you have a gluten or lactose intolerance or if you are a vegetarian.
I have tried quite a few clear whey protein drinks over the last few months and can safely say that Warrior’s Clear Whey Isolate is now one of my favourites. From the great smell, delicious taste, low calories and macro friendliness, I honestly think you can’t go wrong with this one.
