In an ideal world, we all want to wake up every morning and make ourselves a bowl of porridge topped with exotic fruit and peanut butter, followed by a few egg whites on a high-protein bagel.
But let’s face it, who has the time? Most mornings consist of a hazy race against the clock to get dressed, fed, and out the door on time to beat the traffic.
That doesn’t make breakfast any less important, it just means we have to be realistic about our expectations. In a bid to cram in that vital morning fuel, many people are turning to Lidl’s Crownfield High Protein Granola.
Is it worth the hype? Let’s find out.
Priced at £2.19 for a 400g pouch, it’s certainly one of the more affordable granolas on the market. Similar products can command up to £5, depending on where you shop.
In terms of the macros, each 45g serving provides 11.9g of protein, 7.3g of fat, 19.8g of carbs, 8.2g of sugar, and 2.7g of fibre.
While the sugar content is teetering on the edge of being high, it’s certainly no more than your average breakfast cereal, while the protein is significantly higher.
The Cranberry & Almond flavoured granola is also made from nutritionally dense ingredients such as wholegrain oat flakes, soya protein crispies, almonds, walnuts, and desiccated coconut.
There’s also a Honey & Seed flavour which is well worth checking out if you fancy a little more sweetness to kickstart your day.
In general, if you’re looking for a convenient and protein-rich option to fuel your morning routine then this granola is well worth adding to your shopping list.
