Those who have magpie-like vision for protein and a good deal will remember when Grenade shrank its top-rated protein bars for the nation’s favourite Tesco meal deal.
The smaller 35g format was made available in beloved flavours like OREO, offering over 11g of protein in just a few small bites.
Well, Swedish giant Barebells has just made a similar move, launching two miniature versions of its smoother Soft Protein Bar into over 750 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.
Here’s what you need to know.
Barebells Snack-Size Bars Enter Meal Deal Culture
The new Barebells snack-size bars come in familiar Caramel Choco and Banana Dream flavours and, similar to Grenade’s dinky bites, will provide a protein-rich snack option in the Sainsbury’s meal deal.

Instead of the usual 55g portion, they weigh in at a lighter 40g, delivering a solid 12g of protein, around 13g of carbs, less than 2g of sugar (with none added), and roughly 150 calories.
Initial listings on the supermarket’s website show the Barebells snack-size bars will retail for £2.15 per piece – 75p cheaper than the standard options.
However, Sainsbury’s £3.95 meal deal – which also includes a sandwich and a drink – represents the best value.
