Starbucks Protein Lattes & Cold Foam: What to Expect This Fall
Starbucks has bought into protein mania with the launch of new protein lattes and protein cold foam.
The global coffee giant joins the wave of big-name brands rushing to add the muscle-building macronutrient to its menu as the fitness market continues to boom.
From ice cream and chips to cereal and bread, everyday staples are being transformed into protein-boosted goodies that feel like a gym win — and it’s happening fast.
That shift has now hit your morning coffee run, with Starbucks hoping these “hype-worthy” inclusions will modernize its menu and tap into the growing trend of health-first consumers.
Here’s what we know so far about the Starbucks Protein Lattes & Cold Foam, including nutritional information, flavor reveals, and drop date.
Starbucks Protein Lattes: Your Morning Caffeine, Now with Muscle
Made with protein-boosted 2% milk, Starbucks Protein Lattes will deliver between 27–36g of protein per grande beverage without — it says — sacrificing taste or texture.
Starbucks Protein Lattes are coming in a variety of flavors later this month, though the exact selection hasn’t yet been confirmed.
Starbucks Protein Cold Foam: Frothy Function
Starbucks Protein Cold Foam is the same go-to cold foam, turbocharged with 15–18g of protein per serving.
The coffee behemoth’s cold foam has exploded in popularity since launch, with 1 out of every 7 beverages served now featuring it as a frothy topper.
Much like the OG, the protein version can be added to any cold selection like iced coffee, tea, or refreshers.

The foam debuts in a variety of flavors, including banana, vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, brown sugar, and plain.
Special-edition pumpkin and pecan options have also been added for fall. Iced drinks with Protein Cold Foam as standard will be worked into the set menu, packing 19–26g of protein per grande.
What Actually Is Protein-Boosted 2% Milk?
To unlock an extra layer of customization, the same protein-boosted 2% milk used in Starbucks Protein Lattes can be added to any sip, hot or cold, that includes milk as part of the recipe.
When added to hot or cold lattes, it brings an extra 12–16g of protein per grande to the cup.
The milk will be made fresh each morning by blending 2% milk with unflavored protein powder, keeping the mixture free from any added sugar.
When’s All of This Dropping?
Starbucks Protein Lattes, Protein Cold Foam, and Protein-Boosted Milk go live in thousands of stores across the US and Canada on September 29.
Explaining why Starbucks has suddenly gone all in on protein, Global Chief Brand Officer Tressie Lieberman said:
“As we continue to get back to Starbucks, we’re focused on modernizing our menu with innovative, relevant, and hype-worthy products that will resonate with our customers.
“Our new protein beverages tap into the growing consumer demand for protein in an innovative, premium and delicious way that only Starbucks can deliver.”
