About Apexgray
The founder of Apexgray, Jo, first coined the idea for the brand after getting back into postpartum training. She found that when ordering activewear online and in-store, it either came up too baggy, rolled up during exercise, or was too short on the waist. She decided that enough was enough and took matters into her own hands and created her own.
When working out in the gym or at home, it is extremely important that our activewear is durable. At Apexgray, they take great pride in the quality of their clothing, and every item is made with strength and longevity at heart. Apexgray doesn’t want their customers having to return or replace poor-quality items and that is why quality is of such high importance to them as a brand.
To ensure that this high quality is maintained within their products, Apexgray holds globally recognised quality, safety, and fabric traceability certification for their fabrics including OKEO-TEX® certification and GRS® (Global Recycle Standard certification for recycled textiles.
Sustainability
Due to the negative connotations surrounding the environment and the fashion and textiles industry, founder Jo made it clear from the start that she wanted Apexgray to stand out from other fashion brands and remain sustainable. Jo is a passionate advocate for protecting the environment and wanted these morals to be at the core of her brand. With sustainability in mind, Apexgray’s high quality ensures that its apparel is long-lasting and will not need to be thrown away. All of Apexgray’s packaging use no animal products and no ingredients used have ever been tested on animals.
As for the clothes themselves, Apexgray uses fabric made from recycled bottles and clothing. Parts of the range, including the Tor Vest Tops, use bamboo which helps to absorb carbon dioxide and releases over 30% more oxygen than the equivalent mass of trees. They also use Tencel™ Lyocell in the Cirrus drop arm vest top. This material is a closed-loop system which means 99% of the water and chemicals remain in the system and can be used over and over again, thus reducing chemical use and the negative impact it can have on the environment.
Generally speaking, supply chains can have negative consequences on the environment, and it can be difficult to minimise these. However, at Apexgray they ethically source all of their products and ensure that any manufacturers that they use have achieved the Intertek® Workplace Conditions Assessment certification or have undergone a SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Audit). This ensures that every aspect of the supply chain is ethical, including wages, hours, health and safety, and environmental impacts. So you can be sure that when ordering from Apexgray, you are ordering from a company that has everyone’s interest at heart.
Not only do Apexgray promote sustainability themselves, but they encourage their customers to do the same by offering incentives. For example, if customers return their bags and packaging to the company, they will be reimbursed up to 10% of their order value. Consequently reducing the amount of packaging that Apexgray needs to order, whilst also giving back to customers who join in on their mission to protect the environment!
