The bodybuilding community has rallied together in support after a fire caused huge damage to Dubai’s world-famous Binous Gym.
Crews from Dubai Civil Defence responded to a blaze in warehouse facilities in the Al Quoz area during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Local authorities said the incident was reported at 3.45am on April 14, 2026, prompting swift action from emergency units to prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
“The fire was brought under control, with no injuries reported,” said a spokesperson.
While the exact cause of the fire has yet to be established, the units in question belonged to the city’s beloved Binous Gym, owned and operated by fitness legend and Dubai’s ‘most exclusive personal trainer’, Anis Binous.
The mammoth facility was a firm favourite among professional bodybuilders and influencers alike. As one of the key gyms on the global bodybuilding map, it drew in visitors from across the globe.
For many, it wasn’t just a gym, but a proving ground for elite physiques
Stars like Chinedu Andrew Obiekea, better known to strength fans as Andrew Jacked, called Binous Gym home and spent hours within its walls training for the world’s biggest competitions.
Jacked, who recently scooped wins at both the U.S. and UK Arnold Classic, took to Instagram to confirm the gutting news.
“(It’s a) sad, sad day but we will bounce back even stronger and better,” he wrote.
Jacked, who first trained at the gym in 2019, added that both Anis and the gym’s staff are “doing good”.
In true Arnold Schwarzenegger fashion, he finished the post with the words, “We’ll be back.”
Binous Gym Fire: The Fitness World Reacts
Social media was awash with messages of support following news of the fire. Irish fitness influencer and entrepreneur, Rob Lipsett, wrote: “Sad to see Binous Gym gone (burned to the ground).
“One of the best gyms I’ve regularly trained at. Hope everyone is alright.”
Josef Rakich added: “Unbelievable. It was the best gym in the world, my home.
“They will rebuild and come back better!”
There has been no official statement from Binous Gym yet confirming whether or not the gym will be rebuilt.
The team are likely still dealing with the shock and devastation of Tuesday morning’s inferno.
However, the fitness community is unanimous in its desire to see one of the world’s great bodybuilding institutions returned to its former glory.
