Everyone who has been within 20 meters of a gym has probably tucked into a Grenade Carb Killa protein bar or slurped down one of their pre-mixed drinks.
But one thing I’d be willing to wager good money on is that few of you have tried Grenade’s protein powder – or even knew it existed for that matter.
Well, it does, and we were curious as to whether the shakes would be just as delicious as the convenient macro-friendly snacks that have made them one of the strongest forces in the mainstream fitness community.
One thing we always aim to deliver at Gymfluencers is honest reviews on some of the hottest products on the market. Our goal is to save you time and money by buying and trying shakes, bars and everything in between and sharing our opinion on whether it’s a must-have or one to avoid.
That brings us to today’s dilemma. Grenade Hydra 6 Protein Powder: To buy or not to buy?
Whey Protein Isolate
One thing that you can bank on with Grenade is the quality – and their Hydra 6 blend doesn’t disappoint. Featuring the ultimate form of whey protein – whey protein isolate – as well as ultra-filtered casein protein, Hydra 6 protein powder is developed to offer the best possible results, while also offering great taste.
Formulated in the perfect 50/50 ratio of both whey and casein, Hydra 6 can be consumed first thing in the morning, during the day and also before sleep, making it a versatile supplement to add to your supplies.
Why is there a 50/50 split, I hear you ask? Studies show that this combination of protein sources may have the most potent muscle-building effect compared with Whey Protein alone.
Furthermore, hard-training individuals need fast-acting whey protein isolate in the morning and pre and post-workout to support muscle growth and recovery, while slow-release casein protein is ideal for consumption before bedtime.
You might also be wondering what the difference is between whey protein concentrates and whey protein isolates. Typically whey protein concentrates are 80% protein and Whey Protein isolates are 90% protein.
As well as this, because of the extra micro-filtration process, more fat and carbohydrates are removed. Therefore, the addition of isolates in Hydra 6 reduces the overall fat and carbohydrate content and provides a higher-quality Protein, which is easy to digest.
At face value, it seems like a subtle difference, but these are the fine details that separate a top-quality protein powder from those that are just knocked together by companies looking to drain the fitness community for a quick buck.
Grenade Protein Powder: The Review
Now we’ve looked at the finer details, let’s get to what you all came here for – the review. You can always trust that any Grenade product is going to pack explosive flavour, and it was a struggle to pick from Vanilla, Strawberry Siege and Chocolate Charge. But after some internal deliberation, I eventually settled on the chocolate.
The biggest question mark for me was whether the Grenade’s powdered alternative would be as smooth and rich as their snacks and bottled shakes. And I’m absolutely delighted to tell you that it was. I’m a huge fan of Grenade as it is, but after trying this powder my love for the brand has gone to the next level.
I mainly use shakes post-workout, and when you check out the macros there really isn’t anything to complain about. Each 35g serving – of which there are more than 50 per tub – contains 25g of protein, just 1.8g of fat and 0.8g of sugar. Rounding off the formula is a stacked profile of BCAAs and Aminos.
What’s more, when you break down the £64.99 price tag you’re paying around £1.25 a serving, which is significantly less than you’d pay retailers for a Carb Killa bar or bottled drink.
This is a protein powder you definitely need to add to your supplies. Click here to grab it now. Don’t forget to use GF15 on checkout for 15% off.
