The long-running Gymshark Onyx V5 saga is set for a spectacular climax, with the iconic apparel brand announcing its biggest drop yet.
Gymshark’s cult-favourite compression line caused pandemonium when it returned for its fifth iteration earlier this year.
Bots and resellers swarmed to derail the first release, such was the clamour for arguably the brand’s most exclusive collection.
That was followed by several staggered sequels, each slightly different from the last.
Onyx poster boy David Laid took to the streets of New York City for a “ditch and switch” event, swapping rival gym tops for a piece of Gymshark heritage.
An Onyx Midnight colourway was then introduced to the storyline, with a priority release scheduled exclusively for members of Gymshark’s loyalty scheme.
Every drop shared two things in common: lightning-fast sellouts and a teaser for yet another follow-up.
With this latest reveal, Onyx V5 looks to be heading for its endgame — and Gymshark is going all in to make it the most legendary finale the industry has ever seen.
Here’s what you need to know, from two brand-new colourways to when it’s going live.
Onyx Debuts at the Olympia
To kick off the closing chapter, Gymshark debuted its Onyx collection at the Olympia Weekend — the pinnacle of the bodybuilding calendar.
Brought together by Olympia legend and brand ambassador Chris Bumstead, Gymshark joined ESN, BUM Energy, and RAW Nutrition in the biggest booth in expo history.
Etching its place in Olympia folklore, Gymshark dished out freebies, brought LIFT energy with PR cages, and even inked fans with tattoos of the unmistakable shark logo.

Amid all that madness was the “Onyx Vault”. Expo attendees who found the vault and scanned the QR code had the chance to win an Onyx shirt before the main release.
As it transpired, the vault wasn’t very well hidden.
Gymshark’s superhero squad — David Laid, Carlos Belcast, Sawyer Klatt, Sam Sulek, James Beardwell, and Christian “Swole” Rickets — were all lit up on a platform beneath it like the Avengers.
It was pure cinema, and fitting of the whole comic book aesthetic Gymshark has leaned into during this campaign.
When Is the Main Release?
Onyx V5 will hit the online store for what could be its final outing on Thursday, 16th October, at 7pm BST, 8pm CEST, 2pm EDT, 11am PDT, and 7pm GST.
Early access will be available in selected stores from 10am local time. Gymshark currently has flagships in London, Manchester, Dubai, Amsterdam, and New York City.
But before you camp out overnight, it’s worth waiting for confirmation on which locations will get an exclusive stash of Onyx.
Introducing Two New Colourways
Alongside the three original colourways — Onyx Grey, Carmine Red, and the iconic Brand Blue — Gymshark is adding two new players to the mix.
Lift Green will make its debut, while we’ll also see a second variation of the Brand Blue.
All five look set to be included in the October 16th drop, bolstering its status as the biggest one yet.

Most notably, Onyx Midnight hasn’t shown up in any of the teasers or influencer gift boxes splashed across social media.
If it’s omitted from this latest run, it’ll be the rarest piece in the Onyx V5 collection by some distance.
Every colour will release in short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and tank varieties, with prices expected to stay consistent with previous launches.
There’s been no mention of exclusive access for loyalty members so far, meaning this could be the final free-for-all fans have been calling for.
Let the Onyx games begin… again.
