Why Healthspan Elite Whey Protein Deserves a Whirl in Your Shaker
I’ve been lifting weights for over a decade now, and in that time I’ve chugged my way through more protein shakes than I could ever hope to remember.
From mass gainers to clear whey, RTDs to the relatively new phenomenon of complete nutrition shakes, I’ve swigged the lot.
I certainly wouldn’t class myself as a connoisseur, but I’d like to think that, by now, I know what I’m looking for — both in taste and on the label.
In fact, trying new protein blends has become something of an odd hobby. Some people get excited about new clothes, the latest iPhone, or the most recent series to hit Netflix.
I’m a much simpler man to please. Give me anything high in protein and I’m happy.
So when I got the chance to review Healthspan Elite’s All Blacks Ultimate Whey Protein Blend, I leapt at it.
What I wasn’t quite prepared for, though, was just how far off my expectations it would be.
Suspense successfully built — here’s my full Healthspan Elite Whey Protein review. And if you make it to the end and want to try it for yourself, use code GYMFLUENCERS15 to save 15%.
Introducing Healthspan Elite Whey Protein
Healthspan Elite has been in the sports nutrition game for over 25 years, earning the trust of the world’s very best athletes in the process.
Steeped in science, the brand has partnered with over 300 elite teams both in the UK and worldwide, including the All Blacks — New Zealand’s globally revered international rugby team.
Yes, the same All Blacks who perform the haka before matches.
That collaboration, in particular, has been especially fruitful. Healthspan Elite has worked with the All Blacks’ players and nutritionists to build out an entire range of athlete-approved supplements, including their Ultimate Whey Protein Blend.

The formula packs a healthy protein punch, delivering 24g per serving through whey concentrate and isolate proteins with an impressive naturally occurring amino acid complex.
Each level scoop provides 5.7g of BCAAs, alongside Actazin® — a protease enzyme sourced from New Zealand kiwi fruit — to aid absorption.
Naturally flavoured using stevia and fat-reduced cocoa powder, it boasts a lean macro panel that’s high and low in all the right metrics.
My Healthspan Elite Whey Protein Review
To provide the most comprehensive overview possible, I’m going to break this Healthspan Elite Whey Protein review down into a few manageable gulps:
- Taste
- Mixability
- Macros
- Transparency
- Digestibility
- Value for Money
Without further ado, let’s get into it.
Taste
I picked up the Chocolate flavour of Healthspan Elite Whey Protein, and hand on heart, it’s the best-tasting shake I’ve had in over 10 years of lifting.
The flavour is natural with a slight bitterness — much closer to dark chocolate than the sickly sweet imitations most brands pump out. As a lifelong dark chocolate loyalist, I absolutely adore it.
I tried it with both water and milk, and the flavour holds up surprisingly well with water without feeling thin or washed-out. It’s a genuine 10/10 from me.
There are also Strawberry and Vanilla varieties, which I haven’t tried yet, but based on the Chocolate alone, I’d be very keen to.
Mixability
Mixability-wise, Healthspan Elite Whey Protein didn’t put a foot wrong. It’s not a mass gainer, so I wasn’t expecting major clumps — and there weren’t any.
Five seconds of shaking was all it took, and there was no residue clinging to the sides of the shaker or hiding under the lid. Exactly what you want.
Macros
You’re looking at 1.7g of fat, 5.7g of carbs, just 1.3g of sugar, 138 calories and 24g of protein per serving.
A very solid macro panel, especially when you consider the slightly larger 37.5g scoop size. Everything’s well balanced and in line with what I’d expect from a premium whey blend.
Transparency
Healthspan Elite goes above and beyond here. There’s a full breakdown of all 18 amino acids in the blend printed on the back of the pouch, including quantities that add up to 5.67g of BCAAs.

That level of detail is rare in the protein powder world, and it’s something seasoned gym-goers and athletes really appreciate.
It’s also Informed Sport accredited, totally free from banned substances, and backed by third-party test results available directly on the Healthspan Elite website. You couldn’t really ask for much more on the transparency front.
Digestibility
The ingredients panel is clean, and Healthspan Elite Whey Protein sits incredibly well on the stomach. No bloating, sicky feeling, or digestive complaints whatsoever.
The inclusion of patented Actazin® is a clever touch too — ensuring, just like those final reps, you squeeze every last benefit from every scoop.
Value for Money
At £35.54 for 20 servings, it sits firmly in the mid-range, but the quality — across taste, nutrition, digestion, and mixability — is absolutely top tier. For me, it’s worth every penny.
And if you want to save a bit, you can knock 15% off with code GYMFLUENCERS15.
Final Thoughts
I can genuinely say I’ve never enjoyed a protein shake quite like this one. It’s hard to articulate, but the flavour feels properly natural — you get the full depth of chocolate rather than just the sugary top notes.
As I said in the intro, Healthspan Elite Whey Protein did miss my expectations — but in the best way possible. Safe to say, I’ve found my new go-to.
