Jake Paul is set for his toughest fight yet after announcing his next opponent as professional boxer Andre August.
The YouTuber-turned-fighter will make his return to action in an eight-round cruiserweight bout in Orlando on December 15.
Paul, 26, is 7-1 in his boxing career, with his solitary defeat coming at the hands of Tommy Fury. Since then he has bounced back with a win over MMA legend Nate Diaz in August.
However, the American has received widespread criticism from fans who have urged him to fight younger professionals at the height of their powers.
August is a strong contender who clearly meets the criteria. He boasts a more impressive record than any of Paul’s past opponents, with a total of 10 wins, including five by knockout, only one loss, and one draw.
Addressing his critics, Paul tweeted: “Ask and I shall deliver. August has more KOs than me, more wins than me, and more experience than me, but I like to gamble. The path to world champ starts here. Just straight-up boxing.”
August said: “I don’t talk very much. I’m all about that action. Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources, but he doesn’t have my hunger.
“When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.”
Paul vs August will headline MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects IV, presented by Celsius Essential Energy Drink.
In the co-main event, American Shadasia Green will face Franchon Crews-Dezurn for the vacant WBC super-middleweight title.
