MyProtein Clear Whey Review

Is anyone else punishing themselves to be absolutely ripped this summer? No, just me, ok cool, well let’s pretend you are too. You’re following a stringent daily diet and gruelling training plan, in the gym for hours a day even when the British sun decides to pop out for one day a week. Now I don’t know about you but I can’t think of anything worse than a double salted caramel, pretzel, chocolate, mint, fudge brownie milkshake after an intense summer shred workout where you’ve lost a pint of sweat and feel sick due to the 4000 crunches you’ve attempted. All you want is a fruity, refreshing, light, energising, thirst-quenching drink to cool yourself down.

This is where MyProtein comes in, they may have solved our problems, I’ll let them tell you the solution in their own words. ‘Clear Whey Isolate is not just another protein shake. We’ve taken high-quality hydrolysed whey protein isolate and created a light and refreshing alternative — that’s more like juice than a milky protein shake’.

MyProtein’s Clear Whey Isolate, let’s delve into that a bit more shall we, what is it? Well, Whey Isolate is different from traditional Whey in the sense that it’s technically Whey with the lactose removed, as a result of this you’re looking at less fat and calories but more protein per serving, not to mention without the lactose you won’t have any stomach issues….you know what I’m saying, I don’t need to spell it out!

Let’s talk numbers…you gym heads out there are here for this I know!

So you’re looking at around 20g of protein per scoop, 0.1g of fat, 0.3g of sugar and less than 90 calories per serving. A 20-serving tub will cost you £26.99, unless you subscribe and save then you can get them monthly for less!

This isn’t an ad so let’s weigh up the pros and cons of this product:

PROS

-Nutritionally better than traditional whey

-Tastes like juice (I promise I’m not 9)

-Easier to digest

-Multitude of flavours

-Winner of ‘The Best Sports Nutrition Product’ in the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Awards 2019 (if that matters to you)

CONS

-Grainy texture

-Can leave your teeth feeling velvet-y

-Doesn’t have deals as often as traditional whey

MyProtein Clear Whey Review

Now I’ll give you my personal review because that’s obviously why you’re here. I’ve been working out for many years and no you cannot tell, lockdown hit me hard, thanks for reminding me, I’ve tried a lot of fitness and nutrition products. I have definitely struggled to get my daily protein intake and so a protein shake works very well for me, having said that, milky whey shakes have caused me some issues in terms of sugar, fat, and those famous stomach issues we won’t talk about! I am a big fan of this product, have been using it for a long time now and haven’t looked back since. Peach Tea flavour has been a staple for me, I have delved into a few other flavours but have found a couple overly sweet, I haven’t yet tried  Mojito because, well, I’m not insane!! My girlfriend is not a protein shake aficionado, she says it’s like drinking a sandy squash which, you know, I can see and so I definitely don’t think it will be for everyone but if a protein shake is part of your diet and it usually leaves you feeling bloated or you just want to mix up your flavours, give this one a go, for sure.
