New XXL Lidl Protein Shake Packs 84g of Protein at a Budget-Friendly Price

Lidl Protein Shake Evolution: From 35g to a Monster 84g Serving

Lidl is practically an oasis for shoppers partial to a bargain. The words, “ooh, that’s a good price”, more or less echo around the aisles every time you browse.

Alongside Aldi, the German giant’s affordable model has become the benchmark for a good deal in the UK.

Such is its form for offering supplies at a snip, some of the traditional Big Four have even started promoting Lidl price matches on their labels.

In recent years, those budget-friendly picks have been extended to gym-goers. Lidl’s beloved protein line started with a handful of bars, shakes, and yogurts, but soon expanded into a much larger selection.

From high-protein tiramisu to supercharged peanut butter and pancake mix, there are now plenty of inventive products that nudge you closer to your daily target.

But if you’re still struggling to meet your protein goals despite the eclectic assortment, you’ll almost certainly want to know about Lidl’s latest masterstroke.

Arriving right on cue for New Year’s resolutions and winter bulks, the new XXL Lidl protein shake packs in a whopping 84g of protein per bottle.

Here’s what you need to know about this cut-price powerhouse.

The Lidl Protein Shake, Evolved

The fresh XXL option is the next evolution of Lidl’s Milbona High Protein Drink. This marks the third iteration of the popular bottles, with the previous two delivering 35g and 42g of protein respectively.

As the XXL tagline suggests, the serving size has been considerably beefed up, along with the protein count.

It runs in conjunction with a wider XXL promotion, which sees various products — spanning meats and cheeses to washing tablets — delivered in bigger-than-ever formats.

So, what macros can you expect from the new Lidl protein shake? Every 800ml bottle returns:

  • 84g of protein
  • 536 calories
  • 41.6g of carbs
  • 2.4g of fats

While the protein and fat content will please practically any gym-goer, the carb count might be off-putting for anyone not engaged in a dirty bulk or pacing through plenty of kilometres each day.

We should mention, this drink isn’t necessarily intended to be necked in one sitting — although that’s almost certainly what most will do.

Per 200ml serving, or quarter of a bottle, the macros read much lighter, yet still strong in protein:

  • 21g protein
  • 134 calories
  • Just 0.6g fat
  • 10.4g carbs

Available in chocolate or banana flavours, each XXL Lidl protein shake breaks down to four solid protein servings, perfect for post-workout refuelling or convenience on the go.

How Much Does it Cost?

The XXL Lidl protein shake has understandably stirred up plenty of excitement among online fitness circles — partially because of confusion over the price.

Countless videos are circulating on apps like TikTok claiming you get 84g of protein for just £1.01, with the bottles even appearing as a suggested search entry. While Lidl is famed for its wallet-friendly picks, I’m afraid that’s not quite accurate.

The XXL shakes are incorrectly listed on Lidl’s website as retailing for just over a single Great British pound. However, as we know, Lidl doesn’t boast as strong an online presence as its supermarket peers.

The actual price for these weighty bottles is £2.29, which still represents one of the best high-protein deals you’re likely to spot in a supermarket, at least for convenience.

At £2.29, you’re paying pennies per gram of protein, far less than most shakes on the market. Yes, as some will rightly point out, you could just buy a pack of chicken breast for a leaner protein option.

But if convenience is what you seek, this is another stellar addition from Lidl, and one that’s likely to sell out fast.
