Rubicon Energy Drink… To Buy Or Not To Buy?

Rubicon energy drink is a series of Energy drinks made by Barr’s, a soft drink manufacturer based in Cumbernauld, Scotland, and it’s marketed as the tastier, healthier alternative to energy drinks like Red Bull, Monster, and Lucozade.

There are four drinks in the Rubicon Raw Energy line– Cherry and Pomegranate, Raspberry and Blueberry, Orange and Mango, and Apple and Guava.

Each contains 20% fruit juice and a slew of performance-boosting natural ingredients that are supposed to pump you full of energy and take the edge off a crash.

Rubicon Raw went viral in 2020. The drinks are everywhere you look. With the hype surrounding them, you can’t help but wonder if they’re worth it.

Read on to find out.

What’s inside Rubicon Raw Energy Drink?

Rubicon Raw Energy has four unique flavours, but you’ll find the same basic ingredients underneath the taste.

  • Carbonated Water
  • Fruit Juice concentrate 20%
  • Sugar
  • Citric Acid: flavour—preservative and flavour enhancer
  • Sodium Citrate (Acidity Regulator)
  • Natural Flavourings
  • Stabilisers (Pectin, Gum Arabic)
  • Concentrates (Black Carrot and Black Currant)
  • Natural Caffeine from Green Coffee Beans
  • Sweetener (Sucralose)
  • Guarana Extract (0.01%)
  • Ginseng Root Extract (0.01%)
  • Vitamins (Niacin, B6, B12)

Rubicon’s Raw Energy ingredient list is as exotic and potent as advertised.

Guarana extract can help reduce fatigue, improve focus, and has many other benefits, while Ginseng is widely regarded as a miracle drug. It increases energy levels, improves cognitive function, and lowers blood sugar.

Both are staples among the healthiest energy drinks on the Market. However, what sets Rubicon Raw apart from its competition is the source of its Caffeine.

Green Coffee is at the centre of the Rubicon Raw formula, and it contains chlorogenic acid, which has many health benefits like lowering blood pressure and increasing metabolism. It also contains less caffeine than regular coffee and delivers a slower, more sustained release of energy.

The ingredient list would’ve been perfect if it weren’t for the odd choice of sweetener. While Sucralose is a great sugar alternative, it can cause digestive issues and has been known to cause insulin spikes in Diabetics. Stevia is fruit-based and would have been a more natural alternative.

The Vitamins are also great. Niacin aids in digestion, and vitamin B is vital for energy conversion.

How Effective is Rubicon Raw?

Rubicon Raw Energy Drink - 20% Juice and Natural Caffeine. All 3 New Flavours Review

Rubicon Raw Energy Drink makes good on its promise of Energy and flavour without sacrificing calories.

By using Sucralose instead of sugar, Barr got each energy drink as low as 21 calories for 100ml. That means a can of Rubicon Raw Energy contains only 107 calories. That’s less than half of what the majority of the industry is offering.

For context, Red Bull energy drinks have 46 calories per 100ml, and Monster has 44 calories.

Rubicon Raw Energy drinks also contain a fair bit of caffeine. Each can contains 160mg of caffeine. That is the same amount of caffeine a Monster energy drink contains.

How do Rubicon Raw Energy Drink taste?

They take like a fruity explosion in your mouth. The fruit pairing of each flavour dominates the taste buds, making you feel like you’re tasting fresh-squeezed juice rather than an energy drink. The carbonated taste barely comes through, and each swig has a delayed explosion of fruity freshness.

Is Rubicon Raw Energy Drink worth the Hype?

They are worth the hype. Barr’s set out to create the ultimate energy drink, blending the refreshing taste of everyday juice with the instant energy that caffeinated drinks provide. Nothing on the market strikes that balance like Rubicon RAW does.

Rubicon Raw Energy is about as good as healthy energy drinks get. It tastes better than any energy drink we’ve tried before, making it one of the energy drinks we actually enjoy drinking. Its host of healthy ingredients and superfoods doesn’t hurt either.
