5 Facts About Enhanced Games Star Wes Kitts

Two-time Olympian and weightlifting icon Wes Kitts officially signed to compete at this year’s Enhanced Games back in October 2025.

He’s a very familiar face to those who follow power sports, but if this is the first time you’re hearing about him, here’s everything you need to know.

1) He played football in college

Wes’s sporting career started in college.

He played football as a running back at Austin Peay State University, where he amassed over 1,100 rushing yards and scored multiple touchdowns in a total of 26 games during his college career.

2) He was a student of science

It was perhaps inevitable that Kitts would take part in a scientific experiment like the Enhanced Games.

He graduated from Austin Peay in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Exercise Science, laying the academic foundation for his future interest in strength sports.

3) Wes Kitts had multiple successes on Pan American and National circuits

Wes Kitts enjoyed a remarkable career on both the continental and national stages.

He won the Pan American Games title in 2019 and became Pan American champion in 2018, 2019, and 2023.

And he was equally dominant on national platforms, winning the USA Weightlifting National Championship in 2016, 2020, and 2022.

4) He’s a double-Olympian

Wes Kitts made his Olympic debut in Tokyo, competing in the men’s 109kg division. He finished eighth overall with a total of 390kg, setting the American record snatch of 177kg during the competition.

He returned to Olympic action in Paris in 2024, this time competing in the 102kg division. Once again, he finished eighth overall, lifting 172kg in the snatch and 202kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 374kg.

5) He holds 5 national records

Wes Kitts retired with an amazing five national records to his name.

As a lifter in the 109kg category, he set the clean and jerk (223kg) and total (399kg) records in the 2019 Pan American Championships, and he also set a new American snatch record of 177kg at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

He later dropped down a weight category, but his incredible strength remained: he set the national 102kg snatch and total records, with 177kg and 388kg, respectively, at the 2023 Grand Prix in Havana.
