Everything You Need To Know About Gymshark AI Personal Trainer App

Gymshark CEO Ben Francis has revealed he is developing an app designed to place a personal trainer in the pockets of all its users.

In combination with Google and Deloitte, the brand is exploring how generative AI can be leveraged to create new and exciting possibilities in the fitness circle.

Speaking at a Google Cloud event in London’s Tobacco Docks, Francis said: “We try and be as exploratory as we possibly can with new things.

“When Gymshark first started there weren’t that many businesses purely doing e-commerce sales.

“Similarly, there weren’t that many people heavily invested in social media and influencer marketing, and those were things for us that were really pivotal and important in our business that we just had to take our time to explore.

Will AI Replace Personal Trainers?

“So, with generative AI right now, we haven’t launched anything but we are in a purely exploratory phase.”

The feature, which has been given a working title of ‘Genshark’, is likely to sit within the existing Gymshark app.

Explaining the project in further detail, a spokesperson for the brand said: “Gymshark already has this training app which is a great place to discover new workouts and to track your workout data when you’re in the gym.

“What we want to do is extend this and create essentially what is a virtual personal trainer that sits in your pocket.

“As we’ve said it’s just an early explorative prototype, but we’re happy with the results we’re seeing so quickly.”

Features demonstrated at the Google conference showcased the app’s capability to offer feedback on users’ progress, identify areas of weakness, and provide tailored workout plans to help them address those shortcomings.
