Chips, But Make Them High Protein: Our Honest Skinny Food Co Protein Chips Review

Looking for a macro-packed crunch? Stick around for our Skinny Food Co Protein Chips review.

The Skinny Food Co isn’t exactly the first brand that springs to mind when you think about high-protein snacking.

To me, they’re synonymous with weight loss – low-calorie, sugar-free sauces and syrups, that sort of thing. Not the kind of snacks you’d expect to help build lean muscle in the gym.

But over the last couple of years, the better-for-you giant has been quietly standing on business when it comes to protein.

First came the Skinny Food Co’s protein bars – packing 12-14g of protein for as little as 98 calories.

Then, at the tail end of last year, we were introduced to the flaky yet functional High Protein Wafer line.

Now, thanks to the new Protein Chips, things have taken a savoury twist. I need little encouragement to dive into a bag of crisps, and this release gave me as good an excuse as any.

So, using code GYMFLUENCERSAGENCY for 10% off, I grabbed myself a multipack and tucked in.

Here it is: my Skinny Food Co Protein Chips review.

Skinny Food Co Protein Chips Review: The Introduction

Before we jump into my thoughts on these protein-packed morsels, let’s first do a bit of housekeeping.

The Skinny Food Co Protein Chips come in three flavours – Paprika, BBQ, and Cheese – and deliver 18–19g of protein, depending on the variety.

They’re popped, not fried, for a crisp texture with less oil, are gluten-free, and completely veggie-friendly.

Just like the protein varies per flavour, the rest of the macros also have a little wiggle room. Here’s the breakdown per 60g bag:

Paprika

  • Calories: 268
  • Fat: 8.16g (0.9g saturated)
  • Carbs: 29.4g (1.32g sugars)
  • Fibre: 2.22g
  • Protein: 18g

BBQ

  • Calories: 272
  • Fat: 9.6g (1.6g saturated)
  • Carbs: 25.86g (1.44g sugars)
  • Fibre: 5.34g
  • Protein: 19g

Cheese

  • Calories: 269
  • Fat: 9.54g (1.08g saturated)
  • Carbs: 25.14g (1.32g sugars)
  • Fibre: 5.46g
  • Protein: 18g

The macro profile is solid, and while these aren’t quite the ultra-lean options we usually see from The Skinny Food Co, they still comfortably sit within the better-for-you bracket.

As someone who prefers savoury to sweet, it’s refreshing to see the brand sprinkle a bit of its low-calorie magic on a functional snack that rivals a good chunk of protein bars.

Wondering where all that protein comes from? It’s not the usual whey isolate – instead, it’s a blend of corn, pea protein, and brown rice.

From what I can tell, the Paprika and BBQ flavours may even be vegan – but they’re not marketed as such, so don’t quote me on that.

Overview done and dusted – it’s time for my Skinny Food Co Protein Chips review.

Skinny Food Co Protein Chips Review

The Skinny Food Co aren’t the first to roll out protein crisps. Brands like The Curators are already in the game, and their offering is seriously tasty. Let’s just say: the bar was high.

I’ve got no complaints at all about the pricing – if anything, it’s incredibly reasonable. You can grab a mixed multipack of six (two of each flavour) for £7.49.

That’s roughly £1.25 per bag – decent bang for your buck, considering the protein content and novelty factor.

My positive first impressions didn’t stop there. The texture was spot on: crunchy, crispy, light – everything you want a crisp to be.

They weren’t overly mealy either, which is often a worry with high-protein snacks.

As for the taste? Let’s just say I’ve found a new obsession. I’m talking Doritos-level flavour – without the side of self-loathing.

The Cheese flavour was okay, but I’ve never really been into cheese-flavoured snacks – only the real deal.

But the Paprika and BBQ? Take my money. Both lit up my taste buds. No “healthy option” compromises here – just pure satisfaction.

Would I buy them again? Absolutely, no hesitation. They’re not as carb-conscious as your typical protein bar, but do they need to be?

In my humble opinion, they’re a great alternative if you value variety – and a welcome addition to my snack cupboard.

Skinny Food Co Protein Chips Review: The Bottom Line

The point of this Skinny Food Co Protein Chips review was to find out whether these bites can rival what’s already on the market – and the answer is a resounding yes.
