Onyx Gymshark: What to Expect From the Second Drop — Bots, Limits & Buying Tips

Everything You Need to Know About the Onyx Gymshark Second Release

Today’s the big day: Gymshark Onyx will finally release to fans around the world who’ve waited years for another glimpse of the brand’s most exclusive collection.

If you’ve got a sense of déjà vu, that’s because we’ve been here once already. The big reveal was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster last week.

A bot-infested blizzard of traffic crashed the website, and all Gymshark could do was retreat to safer ground.

The Onyx hysteria was simply too much to handle, and the label was caught cold by the very hype it had spent weeks building.

For those old enough to have lived through previous Onyx Gymshark drops, this will have come as little surprise.

Previous iterations were harder to get hold of than a snowflake in July. Those who did manage to snag a piece have either worn it like a badge of honour ever since — or flipped it for upwards of £500.

To give Gymshark its flowers, the initial launch was quickly halted while bot orders were cancelled and contingency plans were drawn up.

That’ll be of little comfort to those who spent hours refreshing the website on drop night, but still, it’s something.

Now, the Onyx Gymshark drop is back for round two — and this time, we’ve been promised no mistakes.

Here’s what you need to know, from bot-stopping measures to tips on how to get hold of the line that’s got everybody losing their minds.

When Will Onyx Gymshark Launch?

Gymshark announced its second stab at relaunching Onyx with a comic book cover that’s very much in keeping with the superhero-style promo that’s snowballed this drop into what it’s become.

This is the sequel — Issue One: Return of the Launch — starring musclebound main character David Laid.

Onyx will go live at 7pm BST on 15 May — same time, fresh chance.

What Is Gymshark Doing to Stop Bots?

The biggest challenge for Gymshark was always going to be whether it could stop the bots the second time around.

When Ben Francis and co hit the brakes, they issued a clear message to snipers: Onyx Gymshark is for real fans.

This time, the team is confident that defences are in place to repel a bot invasion. New protections and human verification steps have been added at checkout to catch any bogus orders going through.

Will it work? Only time will tell.

What if the Website Crashes Again?

We now know that website traffic on launch night was three times higher than the levels Gymshark saw on Black Friday.

This was, without doubt, the brand’s most anticipated event of all time — and the world showed up for it.

Expecting similar numbers come 7pm, Gymshark says it’s prepped and ready for the drop-zone surge.

Are There Buying Limits?

Make no mistake, Onyx Gymshark is — and always has been — super limited edition. The result? Resellers.

Even if bots don’t get through, there’ll still be plenty of people looking to cash in on this drop by buying at retail and flipping for a healthy premium.

That, and the desire to ensure as many fans as possible can channel their inner warrior, is why Gymshark is imposing strict caps.

Purchases will be limited to one per customer, per style, per colourway.

How Can You Boost Your Chances of Landing Onyx Gymshark?

Unfortunately, there’s no magic formula for securing a piece — it’s going to be a case of playing the long game.

Gymshark recommends getting online early, knowing exactly what you’re after, and hammering that refresh button if it doesn’t appear right away.

Oh, and be ready for checkout.

Will Onyx Gymshark Be Landing in Retail?

Limited stock released — and sold out — at Gymshark’s London stores the day after the failed launch attempt. It’s still unclear whether they’ll restock in line with the second online drop.

Given Onyx’s exclusivity, it likely won’t be a significant amount even if they do. Gymshark has other locations to feed, too.

The Dubai store got its own mini-launch this morning, with a finite number of tops made available to lucky shoppers.

What Is Onyx Gymshark?

Gymshark’s Onyx collection isn’t just popular — it’s practically mythical. Think superhero-grade compression gear with sculpted fits, Spidey-style paneling, and performance tech that makes you feel like the chosen one in the squat rack.

This new round includes short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and tank silhouettes, all built with thicker fabric, bold rubber logos, and razor-sharp detailing.

Available in Onyx Grey, Carmine Red, and the returning icon Brand Blue, these pieces are made to move — and vanish from carts within minutes.

The bots are winning 1–0. Can Gymshark flip the script this time? Stay tuned.
