The Countdown is on: Gymshark Trafford Centre Opens Next Month with Exclusive Merch and In-Store Experiences
Gymshark has announced the opening date for its first standalone UK store outside of London.
The apparel giant is returning to Manchester for good on Saturday, 12 July, as it launches a huge northern base in the city’s famed Trafford Centre.
The fitness mecca will span a massive 7,500 sq ft and sit pride of place on Upper Peel Avenue.
Manchester’s world-renowned retail destination caters to 44 million people each year.
They’ll be treated to exclusive Manchester merch, all the heavyweight’s iconic ranges — including Vital and Power — and that unmistakable Gymshark energy.
Signature touches like mannequins modelled on real community members and the brand’s slogan “We Do Gym” will feature throughout.
It’ll also become a base for Gymshark’s legendary events and activations, similar to those hosted in the Regent Street store.
The grand opening of Gymshark Trafford Centre is yet another big leap in the fitness operator’s quest to establish an omnichannel presence.
This year has been one of many firsts for Gymshark in that respect. It launched its first store outside of the UK in the iconic Dubai Mall earlier this year, before recently cutting the ribbon on its inaugural European site in Amsterdam.
New York is set to join that list of destinations later this year, too.
Gymshark’s General Manager for Wholesale & Retail, Hannah Mercer, said: “Since we announced that we were going to open a permanent store in Trafford Centre, back in September, I don’t think a day has gone by where someone hasn’t got in touch to ask me WHEN?
“It’s so great to be now able to reveal the date to such an engaged audience. It’s such an amazing time to be opening in the City, as it seems to be on absolute fire right now.
“Whether it’s the economic boom, the thriving fitness scene or even a couple of brothers coming back together (Oasis), it is undoubtedly the place to be. I can’t wait for that ribbon to be cut.”
Kate Pearson, Director at Pradera Lateral — the Trafford Centre’s asset manager — added: “As a homegrown British retail success story, Gymshark’s story is certainly one to be admired.
“We’re delighted to be opening the brand’s first standalone Northern store at Trafford Centre, especially at a time when our athleisure category is enjoying so much recognition and success.”
Gymshark Trafford Centre: What to Expect on Opening Day
Famously, Gymshark “do” gym. They also throw a mean launch event.
Queues stretched around the block over the weekend as a mini festival was held to celebrate the arrival of Gymshark Amsterdam — and a similar carnival of fitness is being held in Manchester.
Gymshark Trafford Centre will be announced to the city with DJs, challenges and prizes, goodie bags for the first 100 people in line, giveaways, and appearances from the brand’s contingent of Manchester athletes.
The event kicks off at 10am, though fans are likely to congregate long before.
